Is There Snow in the Snowies - CK This Out

I might still be there tomorrow, I don't know.

What should have been about 4 hours worth of work to finally get this sled DONE finally has turned into about 4 days  and now it's looking like the rear shock Holz sent me they didn't bother to spring right, so for all I know I wont be riding for another 2 weeks

I am still trying to decide if the new snow is worth fighting the outragous crowds that are going to be up there this weekend. Parking is going to be ....................................... interesting.

I think the flat landers pretty much invade over the christmas/new years week.

As a fellow iowan I am going to have to agree with you Ollie, We have been making it a ritual for the past 8 years of that being our first trip but each year it has got worse. so this year we are putting the trip back a week to the 2nd - 8th. Hopefully the parking is better.

It will be interesting to see what the crowds are like. All that we have been hearing for the last 6 months is how bad the economy sucks. We'll see if that translates into fewer people riding. My guess is that it will be the same as last year, some may make the trip now that gas is cheaper.

Guess I'm heading out tonight, will ride out of Saratoga tomorrow ..

If you all see some guy cussing the **** out of a POS 900 RMK that doesn't have the skis aligned or rear suspension set up right stop and say hi :D

As far as the crowds go, yesterday you could park at Greenrock in the main lot all day long. Just not very many sleds up here. We'll see how it goes today--winds blowing at a nice brisk pace this morn, imagine that!

Rode out of greenrock with Qreiff and a buddy. Not a lot of people there, but a fair number. Q, knows the area well and I could see he was a little disappointed with some of his spots. Maybe a foot of fresh heavy pow in spots. Open windward areas have been stripped by the winds, but lee slopes and woods were not bad at all. Widowmaker was a boulder field but lake marie had some good climbing.

Same in N. CO. Ok snow, not great. S. CO is the blessed baby so far this year. Ridiculous snow south of I 70. Several places over 90" on the snotel and reports of 10' in the last few weeks.

There was probably about 4-6" of light fresh pow on top of what was already there this morning ... Not really a lot of snow, especially not for up there..

And my dumb *** still managed to get stuck about 5' off the friggen highway
