Is there easy weight loss on the 2012 Pro?

CMXDS-10-12lbs(thats what they claim on average, could be less weight loss)

For the kind of money they are charging I would expect something far more exotic than steel and aluminum. Nice looking product, but it just goes to show the sled market is often burdened by what a few people with dollars than sense will pay.

Thank you die hard poo. What is "CMXDS"? The front suspension a-arms are painted just like the arms in the rear. Do you strip that off and then powdercoat them? Snow doesn't stick to powder coat but it does to paint? What skid plate do you use to reduce the snow build up? Didn't mention that in your post. Do you vinyl wrap the inside of the tunnel too or just the outside?

CMXDS is Crazy Mountain Extreme's belt drive system. They take the place of the chain case, and use a lighter jackshaft, although the Pro RMK's is already gun drilled. CMX makes really nice stuff, but be prepared to pay out the A$$!

I was just looking at that CMX belt drive system yesterday. Does anyone (2XM3) have first hand experience with the belt drive? In their video's, they state that it more efficient than the typical chaincase setup. I would like to see a side by side comparison video of a stock sled and a sled with the CMX belt drive (all other things being equal - rider weight, gear ratio, etc).

Years ago one of the Karpik brothers wrote an article about setting up chassis and working with negatives, things that rob power. Claimed a corrct setup chaincase was 96% effcient, so not sure how much power you can gain.
Nothing is 100% efficient.

Less rotating mass will be a bonus, but for the $$$ ??

Cant remember the weights of ll the different tracks but lately single ply is often mentioned. Wonder if we could get a really light track soon that still performs? CE is prefered by many but those are really tough tracks and I cant help but wonder if they could make a lighter version with a "max power rating".

But this is just me thinking again...:face-icon-small-win

Like others have stated, CMXDS is Crazy Mountain Extreme Drive System. Basically replaces the stock chaincase, brake, and drive shaft with their drive system. It is expensive and I don't know if it is worth it, but they did get a pro to weigh dry 386 lb with that drive system.

Ya I wouldn't worry about powdercoating already painted suspension parts. I was referring to the raw aluminum components such as the spindles, rails, cross bars, etc...

I use the stock skid plate. Skinz offers a float plate that some people like, but I personally like the stock one for its stream line fitment.

No I don't wrap the inside of the tunnel, just the outside. You need the inside to have some accumulation of snow to cool the motor...

Was looking at the C3 belt drive system for my Summit. Some who have it claim it makes a noticeable difference, others not really. I liked it for the ability to change gears, lose a small amount of rotating mass and the durability of a belt and the ease of which you can change one if it does break(also no broken chain case). What does the CMXDS cost? Looks and sounds like a lot more than the C3.
