Is there an intake fix from aftermarket?

I did the slp intake kit on my new axys. Seemed to help a bit. But still had to swipe the intake vents off when I was in rabbit ears with over the hood powder. The slp intake has a molded frame then the vent screen is under it. So it seemed the snow wouldn't fall off, you had to swipe the vent still with your hand. Hope this helps.

Yeah I'll have to call them and talk to them see if they convince me on them cuz right now I don't like the design that they did on the sled as far as intake placement. I just draws powder dust like none other to the vent.

Thanks for the info hitman450 as those were my biggest concerns of buying them. Running into the same dilemma as you did. I'd much rather get something that works like it should.

Took my hood off and there is a flat spot about 10 inches by 10 inches. Took a frog skin and drew a pattern. Took a 3/8 drill and drilled about 12 holes. Cleaned up the burrs, slapped frogs skin over holes. Rode all day in 3ft of powder with no bog or hiccup. Still draws cold air but protected by hood. $5 fix. Do it to all my sleds. Problem with anything on exterior is it will still plug in deep conditions.

Where's it drawing the cold air from? If there isn't a path for snow dust to get in there, I don't see how it could be drawing cold air either.

Frog skins cover holes so no snow dust can enter. Pull off hood and you will see how it draws cold air.

I have pulled the hood off and I think at best you are pulling warm air, not as hot as some spots under the hood, but definitely not as cold as the air directly from outside the hood. Your comment that the frogzkins protect from from the snow dust makes no sense. If snow dust can get on the frogzkins you now have an intake under the hood covered with snow dust on it that you can't clear off, so you would be better off with the SLP solution which would double the surface area for outside air which you could at least clear off. If snow dust can't get to the frogzkins, then you are pulling at least some air from under the hood, which isn't cold air.

I think this solution is a compromise that allows the engine to pull somewhat warmer air (with less oxygen and making less power) all the time in exchange for not being oxygen starved in very deep powder.

It's not as cold as outside vents, I won't dispute. But it's not warm air, it's protected. U keep wiping off your outside vents every 5 minutes or in deep powder every second and I'll keep riding. Warmer air beats no air. I'm just giving a simple solution to those who want a fix. In my opinion its a solution to a problem that's quick and simple and works

Oh and forgot to answer frog skin question. Took hood off after hrs of riding and no snow on frog skins just pulling air like it should
Thanks

One of the tuners posted that the computer doesn't read intake temps above 45 degrees F and compensate. My bogs issues have happened in the afternoon when it was getting warm out. Yesterday was cold and it never bogged. I even looked down in amazement at completely covered intakes. There is a (bullydog? Boston Racing?) reflash that allows for fuel compensation up to 120 degrees that IMO, is the real fix.
