Is the WPSA Folding !!

From latest issue of Snoweek:
Jac Sperling former CEO od Mn. wild hockey team and WPSA have signed a letter of intent to make Sperling the majority shareholder of WPSA. They're hoping to close deal by May 3. Looks like same people running the show only a different owner.
Additionally Jim Daniels who used to run ISOC sno-x has put a proposal out to the manufacturers to fire up his circuit again with 10 national races for next year. If OEM's will support his proposal he will go forward with it. Arctic Cat's marketing manager said "I want a circuit that pays their racers and I want to support other forms of racing. I guess it's going to be interesting".

Well dog gonner I was close.

Ever heard of Cains Quest, it's a two man team cross country endurance race in New Foundland, Canada. That looks like the most pure cross country race I've ever heard of. Most roads, ditches, railroads and snowmobile trails are off limits. You must stop and sign in at each check point. Your wired with GPS and away you go. Lots of Lakes and true cross country. Paul (Zoner) Dick raced it this year with Rex Hibbert and ended up fifth. I guess that was pretty good with stock sleds. Check it out at cainsquest.com

Cains Quest is the most grueling sled race today. Its 2000kms of some of the harshest terrain imaginable. Its in Labrador and the halfway point is my hometown. I plan on trying it within the next couple years.

Ive always thought hare scramble style races would be a lot more fun than SnoX. I mean who rides like that in real life anyways. Most of the snox tech is useless for the consumer. But if there were actual xcountry races then the tech from that would be a lot easier to adapt to consumer sleds.

From an ATV forum: Rumor about their ATV series

from what i have heard the WPSA is at jepordy because there main two title sponser have backed out coming into the 2008 season and this turn for the bad means that they are cancelling the whole series if they cannot pick up enough sponser to make it happen. As far as i know i just heard today that the series is going to be called of if they cannot fix the issues at hand before the opening round at taylorville so i guess we waait and see if the postpone that race or issue a press release. i agree with joe that the wpsa has done so much for atv racing and i am glad to see the atva step up enough to draw a crowd, but i think with all the effort into the atva series that a lot of the factory back teams might stay with atva since they are already going on the 4th round so we know atva is going to be there in the end.

wpsa

i talked with a major team owner today, wpsa has folded, the guy that was to buy into it backed out. there are talks with the former owner of isoc to start a new series. the atv teams that were running the wpsa circuit have gone to the ama and gncc circuits.

4-30-08 I just got off the phone with scott O’mally of the wpsa atv national and our fears of a cancellation of the series has been confirmed. Due to appearent expenses incurred during the first season, they cannot at this time continue. This does not mean we may not see a reorganized series in the future. I will miss the excitement of being apart of an ATV National and hope South Fork Dirt Riders can host an event for you in the future.

Sounds like ATV series is done, sno-x too??

They made an annoucement in their website yesterday that ATV tour is canceled and they are ceasing operations
I'd assume this would include sno-x
This should open the door for ISOC, don't know if ISOC is planning any regionals though
Should help out the "grass roots" circuits like our (IRACE) that are trying to do what they should have been doing to keep sno-x alive:
1) Affordable racing
2) Fun, friendly atmosphere
3) Challenging yet safer tracks
4) One day events
5) LISTEN TO RIDERS!!!
Too bad they couldn't make it work out, the TV coverage was great and the OEM's supported them
