Is the Demise of the US inevitable?

The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always prgressed through the following sequence.

1. From bondage to spiritual faith
2. From spiritual faith to courage
3. From courage to liberty
4. From liberty to abundance
5. From abundance to complacency
6. From complacency to apathy
7. From apathy to dependance
8. From dependancy back into bondage

We are currently category #7.

A democracy will continue to exist up until the time the voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts form the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.

The was I see it. Our children don't stand a chance. WTF can we do to reverse this? History is written down so that we don't repeat our mistakes. Is man destined to follow this sad pattern?

I don't think so but who knows it has been so much worse. Imagine the civil war it was not money most were talking about it was bodies thousands upon thousands just from fighting each other. If you think about that for a sec I think we have a good life even if we are standing in soup line.

Globally, their is an emormous demand for diminishing resources. We are still a huge ecomomic power but do not possess the global influence we once had. Just in the last 10 years we have slipped from some seemingly insignificant #1 positions. Other countries are rapidly growing while it seems that much of our population is clueless and worthless. A stupid but simple example is Jay Leno's "Jaywalking". These simpletons can even tell you who are pres and vp are. Every time something happens we get in line for a handout or wait for the feds to show up. Ask 10 people over the age of 70 what they think. Current polls say 75% of our population say our gov't isn't headed in the right direction. Think our aging vets get together for a brandy and ask each other, "Is this what we fought for?"

There's no diminishing resources. Yha, were burning the oil. But, there's other forms of energy. Yes we use 20% of the worlds resources, that's cause we have the money, and we are the ones that figured out how to use it.

The stupid puzzies will always rise to the top when there's no obvious threat. The real Americans will step forward when the sitz goes down.

Anything that China's building and selling in Wal-Mart isn't life. It's stuff. We can live without their junk just fine.

The voting in of money for one's self isn't the real problem, that has a way of fixing itself. The problem is everyone's dependence upon the government for everything. People want the government to search kids lockers, and tell kids what time to go home, and that your parents can be thrown in jail for grounding you. And settle every little argument. But mostly, they want the government to outlaw everything. Everything dangerous action, every freedom, every individual right.

Jay asks questions in LA, what do you expect. Have a camera shoved in your face, to talk to millions of people, while all cloudy from your last Prozac pill.

What I need is a faster than light speed engine, so I can get off this dead end rock.

you know what ?? all these commi basterds that talk about new energy etc ..blah blah blah ..gettin off the oil....are they that fricken stupid ..like wtf is their computer made of ??,,,their seats in their cars ,, their tvs etc ....the whole planet is made of oil ...and the thing that pisses me off is that 20 years ago they were all beakin off about wood .....commi leftist dems from hell

This is the city council in Billings Mt. and I am sure this is the same in almost every one else town. kind of makes sense to me. With the mentality of the people that we deal with, good luck to us. good one ruffy.

I tried to make a similar point the other day! it seems that most people read history but don't learn much from it! I belive this country is headed for revolution. I personally am ready to for it to begin. The current election is proof enough that this nation is in serious trouble and we need to take action. Neither of these canidates is anywhere near an answer! we should scrap the whole f'ed up mess and start over!

good one ruffy.

WTF, ummm I didn't even post on this thread yet.... I am starting to think I have a secret admirer. All these post of yours with me in it. Sorry dude, I don't swing that way... probably best not to come out on a snowmobile forum either. them be a lynching type of crowd.

I'm curious which "great civilizations" you are refering to?

The 2 greatest, Egyptians and Romans, were around for 2000 years and 1500 years, respectively. Chinas' and Japans' civilizations and cultures have been around for several thousand years

Like I said in the thread polzinhunters referred to:

The sky is falling, the sky is falling.

lmao.

Twice now you've refrenced "Romans" and "Egyptians"
It's misleading because "Romans" are a people, not a government. "Romans" as a people had many many different governments, same with "Egyptians", China, Japan.

Most of the people and countries referred to had governments lasting as long as a single generation before it was taken over again. The Roman senate did last quite ahwile but it was never the single source for government power, its power varied greatly throughout its history always fighting for power with the latest army leader/s.

I believe our country has been in a state of decline for some time now and I fear my childrens generation will be the first generation in the history of the US in which thier parents were better off then them.

Out of control spending on social programs, illegal immigration in which nobody give a chit about, deficit spending, jobs shipped overseas, big litagation, government bailouts of the auto, airline, & mortgage industry, environmental wackos, political correctness, epidemic adult and child obesity, inablility to solve the cancer riddle, nuclear proliferation, and liberal career politicians who have inserted taxes in every knook and cranny of your life is destroying the fabric.

The principals this country was founded on do not exist anymore. I am glad to have lived during this time. I fear the future will not be as good for my children and grandchildren.

I still don't understand how that dumbazz got voted for....twice.
This country hasn't been this bad in a long time but I'm sure it has nothing to do with our leader.

With the amount of corruption happening to our government it's just a matter of time before something major goes down.....OR we end up like Mexico.

I share your view(s). We have rested on our azzes because those before us busted theirs. The general population feels it is entitled to everything without working for it. Some of my generation and the younger think just because their parents had it that means they should also. Look at our housing mess. So because a subprime lending company qualified you for a $400k mortage with nothing down on a sliding rate on a $40,000 salary you think you can afford it??? Then, park your SUV next to your wife's Altima and plop down in front of your plasma. Then, things go to heck and it the govt's fault, not my lack of math skills. They should have kept this from happening. Or, a hurricane hit my swamp and even though at 40 yrs old I haven't contributed a dime to my nation, build my city back while I loot it. Oh, and open the borders and let anyone in, tax free, and give 'em money too. Anything else would be politically incorrect.

A revolution doesn't sound like all that bad of an idea.
