Is a sled deck on this truck a stupid idea?

Thanks for the pics and replies. Think I will try a deck since some of the places i sled are on crappy roads. Just gotta shop around for one now.

Hey T-BO come up to Grande Prairie if you want any examples. There's a sick amount of lifted trucks up here with decks on them and they seem to do fine. My buddy had one on his dodge that had 9 inches on it. The ramp was pretty steep but had no problems.

A Marathon deck is the way to go for a couple of reasons. First, they're ramp extends to 12' making the approach angle way better. Second, they're deck is designed to sit closer to the top of the bed, so it sits lower than most decks and third as mentioned before, they have a really cool extension that adds quite a bit to the back of the deck and then folds up or 2 bolts and its off. These decks rock!
We have a full bonus segment on them in the new Mountain Mod Mania 6

Ive got an 02 Ford F-350 with a 6" lift and 37"s with a sled deck. Have not tried it yet but it looks like fun!!!

Considering Sled Deck

06 Duramax 3/4 ton Crew Cab Short Box with 12 inch lift and 40 inch tires. Was wondering if anybody has seen a truck this big with a sled deck. Thinking a 12foot ramp would not be too bad? Loading a 162 and a 153.

I remember a guy at McBride last Dec had a hugh lift on a D-max (at least 10"/37s) and it was interesting to say the least to watch him try to load up. He had 2 buddies pullin on the skies tryin to keep him straight.

Dont seem like phun doin that everytime

I wish, we didn't have a camera with us. The ramp was only a 8' ramp, and I might have been going a little fast when I hit the ramp and I might of accidently given it too much throttle when I got the track on the ramp.

I dunno....if I wanted to use a sled deck I simply wouldn't put 6"s +++ in my truck. But maybe that's just me.

what happend is when the first guy backed his apex off he broke all the tie downs.

This is my buddies Dodge. He's gonna throw a deck on it for the winter. 46's sittin in the shed for summer. Personally, I think I'll stick to my truck. I did put some bigger rubber on it though, it was a little too low. haha
