Is a sled deck on this truck a stupid idea?

The top of the box is about 5'8". And does anyone have pics of there longtracks on a 7' deck?

tehehe....

I guess if you had a long enough ramp it would be doable, but I imagine it would be very tippy around the curves.

my truck is roughly the same height and i have a deck on it. make sure you get airbags in the back because with most lifts the rear will want to sag. it will make it a lot more drivable on the highway as well. a 12' ramp would be a good idea but a 10' ramp works, just makes loading up the sleds the most dangerous part of the day.

STF Decks from Sylvan Lake have two piece ramps that are about 9 feet long when together, i think you would be fine. on my truck with 35's the ramp is almost to shallow, so more lift would be better.

I have a duramax with a lift and a bobtail sleddeck and I have no problems loading. I love the deck and like it better than a trailer. All you have to do is get the sled on the ramp and you can stop and ride up nice and slow, I don't even start it when unloading, just push it off.

Kinda have the same setup. Have a STF with 10foot ramp. Little steep... just have to gas it :)

That's a 6'6" box, on the half ton crew cabs they are 10" shorter making a lot of overhang with a 7' deck.

I've got the 5'8" box too and was planning on getting a deck custom made for it. Not sure on deck length though.

Post some pics/experiences with the 5'8" box with decks, thanks.

picked up a marathon deck from throttleup.ca in coaldale. 6' deck with the extension will be around 7 1/2'. flip the extension up when not in use and it's an awesome setup.

wtf are you people thinkin. sled deck on that truck would be bad azz, also these are mountain sleds and we arn't fricken panzies right, so just climb the damn ramp. for you older people back up to a snow bank so the ramp isn' so steep, you can handle it

My buddy had a super duty with a 8" lift and 38" tires and I ended up having to buy a new roof skin, and a passanger window after I landed on the roof.

Dude did you forget that you were loading or did you slip and hit the NOS? lol

When i had my super duty with the same set up as your buddy except for 37's the sled deck did just fine, and as for going through the back window get a deck with a headache rack on it. I don't have one on mine cause i have a headache rack on year round.

The only concern I could see is if your loading a really long sled. The longer the deck the easier because you have that much more room after the sled drops down on the deck. My deck measures about 5'4" of the ground and i've got a beavertail and 8' ramp, going to try loading on it for the first time shortly....will probably be making the ramp 10' cause i'm a pansy :D Another concern would be since you got such a short box is the tip factor of the deck because the weight is so far back on the truck.

Holy Sheeeeit Straypuzzy, that thing is barely on there. LOL

I have a ford SD with a 2.5" lift and 35" tires. My bed rails are about 5'4" above the ground. Beavertail deck...and an 8' ramp. Added the 2' extension after I had a hard time with it on a REALLY frosty frozen alum ramp on January afternoon. LOL

It works just fine with the 10' ramp now. I can back into my shop with the sleds on the deck with the 10' doors NO PROBLEM at all. I think I can clear 9' just fine too.
