Is a pcv the fix on 800's

Is an engine failure still possible when using one? Absolutely. Its just like fiddling with your jetting. Fiddle "too much" and you can create a problem. What many are finding out is that there is quite a bit of variability between sleds. Some sleds run great without any mods at all - some need pretty drastic changes in fuel delivery and clutching. The map that works well in my sled won't be quite right in yours. This is part of the reason why there are "mixed" results using some of the canned maps out there from DTR, SLP or whoever. Those that have the ability to fine-tune the maps for their own sled are getting the best results.

I added one on mine this season. I wasn't having running issues prior, but felt the PCV was worth the extra piece of mind. Sled feels much better than stock.
Rocket is correct that for some reason these sleds are not all the same. However, they are all lean through the mid range RPM's. Most people love the improvement, but I have read of a couple people that aren't having much luck with them.
The HP gain is better than a pipe and you will improve the longivity of the motor by fueling it properly. Failure still lies within your ability to tune properly. On the average the SLP and Dynotech maps have been working good for most applications.

PCV

I do have to say that the two that I had put on are running flawlessly. One on an 08 and one on an 09. Jim from Dynotech set both of the up and are performing great. I, too, have heard mixed opinions on them but working wonderful for mine. Smooth powerband without any burbles at all. My .02

I am running the PC-V as well on my 09 and love it. I feel like the motor is finally making the advertised power.:face-icon-small-hap

Some who put one on here in Alaska running in the Placer riding area, (Elevation 0'-100') the DET was coming on. Jim at dyno has told them to run 3% higher at 8000, 8250, & 8500. One was reporting the DET coming on early in the morning when it was cold but as it warmed up the DET went away. Anyone here in Alaska change there high end rpm fuel settings for Placer? & what to?

I have one on my 10 D8 and it runs wayyyyy better with it. Almost no mid range burble, only happens every once in a while in low elevation. But when it does it every once in a great while, it isn't nearly as severe. It is worth it weight in gold.
