Is a lower comp head worth it?

Other then being able to run less octane or more boost what effect does a low comp head have on performance ?

What were your findings? there's always many variables but would love to hear the pro's to cons of it, or whether you would really notice much difference. I had a home made turbo ski doo and machined my domes to reduce the compression, I never noticed any loss of throttle response but was able to run more boost safely.
