iq belt problem

i have a 09 Polaris assault with a 98 700rmk motor and run great i use a 3211114 belt and the one on the sled had some miles on it so i change it set the clutch for the new 1114 belt and i went for a ride now the sled not getting full rpms :face-icon-small-fro put the old belt back on set it up and full rpms right now:face-icon-small-ton what with that can anybody help :face-icon-small-sad

if you read the post it said i put i different motor in it and that way i use the 3211114 belt for the iqr 440 and my old belt work great the same new 3211114 belt i dont get full rpms and that with the belt sitting at the right height in the clutch dose the belt just need braking down

Sounds as maybe the belt you are using has a different sheave angle on it. The old belt is wore to the sheave angle on your clutch and that is why it pulls the right RPM. Sure the belt can wear down to the correct sheave angle but that is not the correct way to go about this.

What clutch do you have on it? You need to match the belts angle to the clutch's angle.

the belt that came on the body is the 3211115 and what i have is the 3211114 there all the same the only thing different is the c to c measurement the old 3211114 belt i got it used with 15k on it off of ebay and worked great and the new belt same brand and sizes from the polaris shop dosent pull the rpms and take alittle time to get to max rpms and not hold it in the heavy snow put the old one on and hang on it take off like a rocket

You bought a used belt with 15k 15,000 miles off of ebay??

I'm guessing 15k he means 15 kilometers.

As for the issue, I would measure the thickness with a caliper. Sounds like possibly your old belt is slipping just enough and the new one is grabbing better. Or it's defective. Maybe buy another and measure it BEFORE you run it to see if it specs the same.

The belts all have angles that match the clutch face. My guess is the angle on the new belt does not match, the old and used belt only matches because it is wore down and it wore the belt angle to match the clutch face. Make sense?

What clutch are you using? What sled and motor did it come off of? How about the secondary?

It looks like you have quite a combination of belt lengths, widths and angles you are working with here. The 1998 3211065 belt has a different width and angle than the secondary clutch on your sled is set for with the 3211115. I really don't have any answers for you but maybe this will help you get it sorted out. See the attached pic for some more info.

thanks for the help so the only thing i see is different is the side angle the 700 belt is 28 and the 3211114 is 26 same width so what the side angle do to me and how do i fix it or do i have to run the 3211104 belt

I really am not much for clutching advice but maybe some of the other guys here with more clutching experience could offer some suggestions.

The correct way would be to match up the primary and secondary to be on the same belt angle. I would contact Indy Dan and see what he says. He might be able to machine one or the other in either direction.

i have the same set-up, and ask par when i bought the motor plate, at that time they told me to go w/1104 belt and i now see the reasoning, your primary is doing more work, i would think you'd match that angle

The answer is simple. Change out the p85 on the 98 700 to a clutch with a 26* side angle and then ensure belt deflection is set correctly.

I essentially have the same thing 04 VES based 910 engine running an 1114 belt. Primary side angle has to match the secondary side angle in order for this to work. If your pimary is stock 98 700 then its incorrect. The old belt was just stretched enough to work. But it still didnt give you full potential of what the sled could really do.
