Inviting all sledders to West Yellowstone

Watched a little weather channel tonight to see how the storm was progressing into the midwest, looks like West is in for an active weather pattern through the end of the week!

Just have a question, the west yellowstone web cam picture does not come up, is there something else I need to do to my computer to get it to work? All of the other web cam pics work for me. Any suggestions....

Let it snow!!!

I have the same problem when I'm at work. It works fine at home though. Must be some kinda program your computer doesn't support.

Still think I will have a free one coming!!! Will be in town late on the 26th heading out with the Comfrey/St.James group. See everyone soon. Big storm just going to miss New Ulm calling for 18" in the Brainerd area.
Later D

Yeah they are saying 15" up north here would be nice to ride the thing before i go out west on the 26th.

TeePee basin???

The furthest I've gone out on the Bigsky trail is to the Forest service cabin... I'm looking to get to TeePee basin on the other side of the mountain between the basin and the forest service cabin. Is there and easy way to drop into teepee basin? I tried last year but the trees are so friggin thick and it was very overcast. Also what other good powder areas are there along the trail past that point? Looks like Carrot basin would be awesome but how long would you realistically be able to ride there before going beyond the halfway mark for gas? I have an image showing where I'm talking about. Getting to the green is a no brainer but once you get to what I think is nicknamed fiberglass hill nothing is marked and its almost as if you're on your own... I have in pink where Im pretty sure I went last year to get thru the trees to the forest cabin area... I'm just not sure how to get into the teepee basin safely. Im sure you locals could point me on my silly image. :p

my head is killing me right now so, i cant think too hard.. but, i would have never believed a few days ago that it was possible however, im gonna agree with bradical on the 60 inches by the 26th..

every little bit helps... looks like its either blowing pretty good or the snow is settling.. as the snotel backed down a little.

Now listen closely Boys and Girls....
little by little this week the new snow will keep up with the settling of the snowpack even creeping it up an inch or two...
then starting on tuesday DEC 23 it will begin to snow in earnest and will put down 20 - 30 inches of new snow over the next four days.

Hows that for a forecast???

remember to call Kurt & Shell to book your rooms and get there early...

How about an actual snow report, not forecast. How much snow in town from the last storm that was to blow through?
What about the riding areas?-Lion's Head. Cabin Creek-Big sky trail.South Plateau?
We are a group of 12 wanting to spend some money and do some riding.Convince us to come to West Yellowstone. We are just looking for snow, and may end up going to Togwotee if the snow is better there.

Go to Togwotee and you will fore sure spend a lot more money then you will in west!!!!!!! Things are expensive down there and they don't even have a nite life:mad: My vote is for you to go to west stay at the goldenwest or get one of Kurt and shells condons and you will have a great time. West bound in 11 days to drink that free beer at Strozzies (thanks Brad):D

BlackBear snotel is not reporting the snow depth this morning..:(
it does report that the precipitation (if it were rain) went up .6 inches.
do the math what does half an inch of rain equal if it fell as snow?

well town is looking better anyway. I watched a loader working this morning on the webcam.:)

you can look at snotel but, it may not be 100% accurate..

black bear says 40 inches.. town got somewhere near a foot if im not mistaken..

i spoke to brian last nite (skitug), he was drunk but, he said it was awesome riding yesterday.. kurt was supposed to post some pics but, he was watching football and :beer; .. hopefully he will post some pics soon..
