installing my mcx 180 kit

I am installing a mcx 180 kit on my nytro and have a question about the vent hose on the top right side of the plennum as you are looking at the hose side. The instructions say to take the vent hose out of the stock box and put it on the plennum but does this hose go on anything else or just stay open?

If you still have it somewhat apart please read the "copper donut thread" and "squak squak squak" thread in the first few pages in this section. Couple things that will make your great kit just a little better and spool better and more reliable in the long run....thanks Brendon

I had that same question. Did a bunch of research on turned up with nothing. So I was down at my dealer today and asked him, we pulled the hood off of one of the sleds on the showroom floor with a turbo on and it's supposed to just vent to atmosphere. I just kind of tucked mine down into the sub frame.

That's exactly what they do, just vent. However, if you wind up rolling the sled they will also puke out oil and, some of the "stuff" that comes out of the hose is in the form of gooey white crap! Its just moisture/oil combo but it does make a mess under your hood. I put a longer piece of hose on mine and run it below the oil tank and onto a rag that is zap strapped to the hose. Just make sure that the hose does not get clogged/plugged or you'll pop a engine cover gasket, I know! Also, FYI, Alpine in Salmon Arm sells a "anti-spill rollover tank" that works like a hot damn! If you do rollover this small tank collects the spilt oil before it pukes outta the hose and, when you upright the machine it pours the oil back into the oil tank. I know that this works very well too! Sherm

I just run my vent hose to a plain old clear plastic drinking water bottle. The hose fits snug inside the mouth of the bottle and the bottle wedges in nicely beside the oil tank. Poke some holes in the bottle so it can vent. Like Sherm said, there is a quite a bit of whitish brown goo that comes out of the hose. The bottle collects this and I have not had any messes. It looks a bit ghetto, but seems to work for me.

Snafu, I too ran the hose into a bottle and even put a couple extra holes into the bottle to relieve some of the venting pressure. First time out it blew the rubber head cover gasket! When your under power there's alot of pressure blowing through the hose and unless it can vent properly there could be problems.....Sherm

Thanks for the heads up. I'll take a closer look at my set-up.

I got rid of the bottle, ran a longer piece of hose below the oil tank and zap strapped a rag to the end of the hose. This soaked up whatever came out, just make sure you don't plug the end of the hose, no more mess! Sherm
