installing 405/77 springs need help

Hey Jeff D what wieght are you all geared up i would like to know what those 405 springs can handle and how much it sags when your ON and OFF your sled

I talked to 2 Polaris dealers today. Both stated that there isn't any kit that comes with both springs, both have to be purchased seperately. Has anybody confirmed this to be false?

I ordered mine they came in two seperate boxes...Right and Left. Im not sure what number they were the guy at polaris just called them heavy duty springs I put them on. They definently took the sag out. Have not rode it yet to know what the performance is like. 08 d7 163"

Kit is 119.99 and to buy seperately is 79.99 each. I was going to get the kit for my new assault because it sags really bad- dealer told me he wants to pull out the suspension and check the shock. Anyone heard of any problems with the 2010 rear shock package for the assault?? 0 miles on it

you don't happen to know the number for the kit. my brand new 2010 dragon with 0 miles also sags pretty bad.

Stumper, The .405 is made for a two up trail sled, but can be made to fit, but not correctly that is why you don't see the part number in your search. Just go with a .375...you can get them in like three different degrees of preload.

No the 05-06 are not the RAW Chassis, they are IQ RMK. The RAW started on the 07 Dragon RMK's.

Thanks Morsno:beer;, I'm 250lbs plus gear and will be at times towing one of those Equinox enclosed cabooses which has a hitch weight of at least 20-25lbs (right out at the hitch end) so was just looking for my best option.....
IF I were to order the .405's do you, or anybody else, know what kind of modification is needed to install them...thanks.
P.S. my local dealer is of NO help what so ever

First I have heard of any kit, sure would like a part # if possible.

Dont know the part number for the kit yet... I am waiting to see if the shock is bad before i order it. He was very confident that it would work fine with few modifications- if any. All I know right now is the price but i will see what i can get for the part number. My 2010 Assault comes out of the crate with 375's (i think?)... Im assuming the shock is bad because the 375 shouldn't sag this much (245lbs)

If you don't mind, What/where is your dealer and who (person) are you dealing with on this? Shocks probably aren't the cause of the sagging.

Podeins Power Equipment in Stewartville MN. These guys are great to work with- smaller dealer but they will help you in any way possible. Mark Podein (owner) is the guy I deal with. They move ALOT of sleds out of that small shop.

clarification

Hi,

I have '09 D8, 163. And, sitting on my garage floor, with the OE suspension in it (w/ FTX D&R kit installed) the sled seems to sag. I weigh 210#s before gear and clothes.

I'm not claiming a high skill level when riding, but I do ride hard. And, I have been strongly advised to switch to the 'big boy' springs.

Are the .375/47* springs the ones everyone is calling the "big boy" springs, or are the .405 the "big boys"?

I still have the WE on the skid. I know, I know, the majority seem to think I should ditch them, but right now, that's more $$ than I want to spend now. Some form of shock upgrade will likely be my next step, but for now, I'm working with the WE.

I recently purchased some belts from Dirtcheapsnow.com, and they advertise great prices. The belts showed up right away, so so far, so good as a source for OE parts. They list them for $66 each side, shipped.

Given my criteria, can you larger gents clarify which PN you recommend?

Thanks

I would recommend the 375/47 on the RMK. Part # is 7042079-067 and 7042080-067. I have them on mine and there is zero sag with no rider.

Correct. I just got off the phone with the dealer that Matt rec'd. He stated that the kit was for .405/77* springs for Matt's sled due to the Assault already has .375/77*

He was going to check on the .375's but thought that that kit was for .375/77* not the 47 degree.

What's kind of funny is I used to doo this on the doo's and the heavier springs ranged $25-$35 each.

Polar, the .405 aren't rec'd on the RMK's

Took Curt's advice @ Fastrax. Put the 375/47s on tonight.

NO MORE SAG AT ALL!!! Even at the lowest setting. Haven't rode it yet but know my shock will love me more now!
