make sure the polaris 800 has good bearings, the doo 800 would rip with some small bolt ons.

Why not a Mountain Max? That 700 will run will any of the above, probably more realible than any of the above and easly in that price range. The 800 Mountain Cat's were good sleds too, just watch the trackshaft bearings.

My vote goes to the polaris 700. I wouldn't ride a 700 but the 800's had crank issues if they are on a budget. My 800 ran awesome but I had lots of friends who lost their cranks. Out of the ski-doos I think those were the worst year doos to buy and I am a doo guy. In 02-03 nothing would touch the polaris out of the box. That cat 800's were heavy. If you found an 03 vertical escape they had reverse.

RMK 700, probably the most reliable engine with a good chassis....remember
if he is on a budget he won't have $$ for repairs or add-ons....should be
a quality sled for years to come..

Is this his fist sled? What kinda rideing are you going to be doing? Mountains or flats? I had a 99 mountain max 700 triple and it was a great sled till i blew it sky high due to bad set up. with the stock can on it it dove to the right all the time. I put on a aftermarket can and lightened it up and that did the trick I really liked that sled. I also had a 98 rmk 700 great sled never had any trouble till i hit a rock and totaled it. I have a 01 rmk 800 love the sled it handleds better than the other two in the powder. so i am guessing a new than that sled will be even better.

I've got a blue 2002 polaris 700 144 that has been ported with twin SLP race pipes That I will sell him for that Price. Sled ripps, and will out run my 800 in most conditions. A 144 is a very manureable sled but still enough to get you around in our mountains. Has around 1800 miles on it. Brand new seat, sled is in great shape. PM me if interested in taking a look. Sled is at my fathers home in Brigham city, Utah right now, I am planning on getting some pics of it and putting it up on KSl next week.
