Inline vs Wide

Made the same run over pres weekend. 08 6.7 cummins deleted 85 into a 30 mph headwind..9.4 and I was impressed. Way back we had a tail wind and were runnin like our a$$ was on fire haha. Deletes made a huge difference on this pickup seeing it used to get 13 empty. Now it gets that pulling a bumper pull stock trailer. But back on topic.. Nobody running a 8.5 wide with the wheel wells??
 
I have a 8.5x25 with the wheel wells inside. It is a 20 foot box and 5 foot vee. I can get 4 long tracks in there with room for anything else you might need. I have gone from Minneapolis to Cooke twice and the Snowys once this year and the overall average for the year is 9.5. We drive between 75 and 80 depending on where we are. I bought the 8.5 wide because I haul cars quite a lot. I tow with a 2011 6.7 Ford F350 crew/long. If you tow with a diesel you won't even notice the trailer behind you.

If you can swing it, just get a gooseneck. Pull easier, don't sway, have the room up top for luggage and storage. I have pulled almost every trailer combo possible. When it came time to get a trailer, this is what I went with. In all honesty, I don't notice much difference in pulling this or the 7x29 I had before.

I like the gooseneck aspect but I dont think it'd be practical for me. Im really lookin into a 8.5x29 American Hauler round top all aluminum from Sparks. Buddy has a 7x29 and they seem to be a really nice trailer and pull great.
 
I got 7x29 and love it. I would never go back to 8.5' for pulling sleds to mtns from nd. If I lived 10 hrs closer than I would have a 8.5'.

I'm lookin at the same trailers. Gonna go take a look in person one of these days. As for a wider trailer with inner wheel wells, talk to Wettstein's from lidgerwood. They run a Triton like that behind a stock 6.7 Cummins

It's aluminum. I just didn't care for the 7 wide. Some guys really like them. I like having the room in the trailer. My opinion would be to get the wide aluminum.

Yeah got one now. Dont have any complains just want more room and definatley want to go wider.
 
I just bought a 7'x24' plus 5'V. All aluminum Aluma trailer. Traded in my 2 place 12' all aluminum two axle enclosed Floe deck over. Empty, the 24' Aluma trailer pulled easier than the 12 foot Floe. I have a 2003 Ford F-250 crew cab 5.4 V8 gas. Our trips are any where from 1,000 to 1,300 miles one way. Two to three times a year. I have only made one trip with the inline with three sleds so far. I do like the visibility with the inline. And low to the ground.

All aluminum, high and wide is what we prefer. Just never have figured out why anybody would want to drag a low trailer through the deep snow and ice >>>>.
 
We have a Triton prestige 24ft 8.5 Wide and everybody who has ever pulled it comments on how nice it pulls. It has been an awesome trailer for us.

I have a 7.5x29 all aluminum extra tall trailer, also have owned two 8.5 x25 over the wheel trailers, one steel frame, one all aluminum. Love pulling the narrow trailer for visibility, but is a hassle jockeying sleds around. The wide trailers pulled real well I thought until we used my buddies 8.5 x 29 all aluminum with the wheel wells inside. I could not tell any difference pulling them at all, but never would buy a above the wheel trailer again. Good luck with your decision, and do yourself a favor and buy all aluminum.
 
Oh ya going all aluminum no matter what. Can you tell me a bit more about the 8.5x29 all aluminum.
 
Hey, my brother traded from an 8.5 wide to a 7 wide and we absolutely loved it on our last trip. Pulled way better, easier to see and still held all our crap no problem! Would definitely recommend it for the long haul!

All aluminum wide and low trailer really pulls nice. It seems like you get the trailer close to the ground, not even side winds bother you. You will have to buy a lot longer narrow trailer to get more than four sleds in it. The main thing with the narrow trailer is way better view to the rear.
 
Width dont bother me. Got 8.5 wide horse trailers so its nothing new. How does that 8.5 wide compare pulling to an inline?
