Imagine Polaris + Yamaha

Imagine a collaboration between Polaris and Yamaha. Polaris builds the chassis (Pro RMK) and Yamaha engineers and builds the motors (powerful, reliable, durable 2 Strokes and Turbo 4 Strokes). Both sell the sleds in their own colors. Less R&D $ for each and increased sales for both! Win-Win. Never happen? Already did happen between Cat and Yamaha with the 120 mini-sled. Polaris are you listening?

We all know it would never happen in the big boy department. But, I was more thinking of the Polaris with the Cat 800 motor. Alot of power and pretty bullet proof from my past experiences. Definately have the Polaris clutching too.

No thanks, I don't want a 4-stroke in the Pro chassis and Yamaha has abandon two stroke in the performance rec. world (with exception of the 250 smoker).

Interesting thread....

I've been hearing a rumor that might surprise some people... Oooops!!! I think I said too much already!!! Ok ok, next year by this time everyone will know...

Joe

Yeah, we've all heard that talk before. Unless you spill the beans you're BS'n us.

He didn't specify a 4stroke ( =

I wouldn't want a 4 stroke either but a motor as reliable as my old mountain max, helllllll ya! Over 5 thousand miles on it when I sold it, all original. That just doesn't happen nowadays in a 2 stroke ) =

LMAO...........Why would Yamaha waist their time with some little piss ant like Polaris ?

Well for that matter why doesn't Polaris go hat in hand back to Fuji heavy industries and have them make Polaris engines again. Lol, my old Indy never left me stranded.

Far more for Yamaha to gain than Polaris. Polaris has hit a grand slam with weight reduction, durability and chassis design. I wouldn't say the Yamaha motors are that great. Sure they are reliable but they are 4-stroke. The majority of the market doesn't want 4-stroke because it does mean less power.

Polaris has had a few motor problems but so has every other 2-stroke out there. Most of them are fine.

Im with you on that one!FUGI industries in my opinion made some of the most dependable motors.how many new engines cat, doo, poo, yami (2-stroke) are you gonna see in say10-15yrs from now or with 10000 miles on same pistons or rings?.

Unfortunately guys, Polaris owns Liberty engines, and nobody but liberty will ever build these engines for Polaris. And as long as we keep buying their sleds with these crap motors, that's all well ever get. We're showing Polaris with our wallets that reliable motors are not what drives our purchasing decisions. We're getting what we want -- crap motors that maybe will last 1,000 miles.

True dat!I exercised my right and have not bought 1 of there new sleds since 2002.xcr 800 was the last sled i bought from them and untill they can produce more power than the xcr 800 with the same reliability well lets just say i will sit on what i got!10lbs to me means nothing for reliable HP!

I was told we already have Fuji cranks in our Liberty engines. Wouldn't be suprised to see a Fuji 800 in the near future, not to mention an Orbital DI-2stroke... or a combo of both. :face-icon-small-coo
