so does the same thing go for people wearing beacons? it is another tool to help protect you...just like a seat belt. if you wear a seat belt does that mean you drive stupid? i think not. its another tool you can use for your protection. and you never know when one is going to come up and bite ya in the a$$. better safe than sorry.

Knock, Knock Beacons "DO NOT SAVE YOUR LIFE" they just insure your loved ones will be able to find your body before the snow thaws. Seat Belts are the same thing they don't save your azz nor does the airbag under the right circumstance.

Insurance does not bring your Dead Azz back either...Knock, Knock

A better question is who is the bigger tool, O.T. or snowhawkadditct?
Popcorn anyone,

Hey OT does this mean that when you buy a car you dont buy one with seat belts? Do you tell them," Leave the Airbags out I don't need em." ? Cause by having that safety equipment your admitting that your probably going to get into a crash and your going to need them. Your thinking and reasoning on this is so flawed its not even funny. Do you actualy believe any of the drivel that you have posted lately?

IMHO this is a dumb thread......

I am really considering the purchase of a survival pack in the near future. Might go with the snow pulse but whatever. If you want or think you need to get home safe to your family/friends, then I think it's a no brainer. Get a pack!

Watched some National Geographic program which tested the packs vs no pack on some 'dummies' and the results were amazing!!!

It cant hurt.

So should we all not drive, ride, or leave the house? oh wait that could catch fire. Maybe I should just live in a bubble.

A few years ago a father and son lost their lives in an avy in cooke, if I remember right, They were riding on the trail and got swept off and buried by an avy caused by nothing more than noise.

Avy's happen even by natural causes, the packs are just another tool.

What you've said basicly equates to "wearing a helmet gives you a false sense of security and therefore you admit to riding too aggressively and are part of the problem". There's no guaranties on any of the safety devices saving your life but they do increase your odds.

If you wear an "ABS Bag" or "Similar" aren't you part of the problem ? Clearly, if your an owner of such a bag you admit to taking the risk on potential dangerous slopes during snowmobile activity.

OT

What exactly is your definition of "the problem"?

Not everyone who wears one is saying i can take an avalanche with no problem. Its just another weapon to prevent death. Avs can happen anywhere in the backcountry. Sitting here telling everyone they are stupid for caring about loved ones while doing the sport thyey love is fing retarded. You sound like the kind of guy that is completly unprepared for anything to happen. Do you even bring water or are you afraid if you do you will die of dehydration. People like you who only think of themselves makes me sick. Get your head out of your azz.

OT you need new batteries in that brain of yours. You can't even ride trails and not be exposed to possible avy.

Maybe you should just ride the little $.50 snowmobile ride at the malls. Jessshh

OT...you're a riot! :) I wish I had bait like yours...you probably catch the biggest fish outta the lakes too! :D

Theres is plenty of places to ride that are 100% safe from Avy potential..... You just have to be willing.

OT

Yep.
All the safe peeps are in Saskatchewan.... never heard of a slide happening there. I'm with the guy who wanted a refund on the time wasted reading this thread :(

Not saying that these bags won't save a life. But unless there is a way they will deploy automatically I think 90% of the time they would be totally useless. Seems to me that most Avs hit unsuspecting people, therefor is that person going to be aware enough and quick enough to deploy the bag? From the few people that I have talked to that have been hit by an avy you don't have time to react and the force is so great and you are rolled around so much that you more than likely could not reach the cord to activate it. If you see fit to buy one great! If not great also. I think I will use my head and avoid terrain that is dangerous and live to ride another day. For example, I will go to the Horns this saturday instead of Cooke because of the instability of all the snow they have received in the last week or 2. JUST MY OPINION!

YEP AND THERE IS PLACES 100 PERCENT SAFE TO DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE...just have to be willing......lol...lol..gee i guess if you don;t want a vehicle accident with another vehiccle you have to be willing to drive your vehicle on the bottom of the ocean floor...we let us know how ya make out bud...just maybe just maybe a boater will be way off his reasoning by being in water and could help ya out...that is if he is not playing safe and is willing to play in his boat in the back yard..lol...lol..i think just maybe you have played it a little to safe your whole life...have ya been out of the house yet..???

Why would you even start a thread like this. Avalanche Beacons have saved many of lives. You know we all take risks all of our life. I run into burning buildings w proper equipment does it give me a false sense of security no i still know that there are inherent risks. Just cause you may be riding trails that are all the same doesnt me some guys dont like to explore the country.

i snowmobile for the adrenaline rush, and riding flats isnt going to do that for me. sorry. i wear an ABS to better my chances when i do get in a slide. i use my head to avoid situations but im still gonna ride where its steep and deep. i trust my buddies and they trust me.

Yes, if there is no warning and if you freak out, you may not be able to deploy it. But the key to anything to do with avy safety is not just to grab your gear and go riding, but to be familiar with it and practice often... thats one of the reasons i chose a bag which was refillable, so i could be used to deploying it. Also, you don't wait for the avy to hit you to deploy the bag either; while I have never been in one I understand that in most cases there is a small amount of time before it hits, unless you triggered it yourself. But I am likely just wasting my time here..... :(

This is the stupidest chit i've read on here. Are you joking me? Why wear a coat when its cold out when we could all just move to mexico... that is essentially what you're saying. This is retarded.

nope i live in sask. and had i buddy almost die in an avy at a gravel pit!so much for safe!
