I may be a retard....

But I need to get this situation sorted.

Pro RMK now has 970 miles on it. Obviously, I've put a bunch of oil in the oil tank.

As stated above, the sled has 970 miles on it and has been rolled an unknown number of times to get it unstuck.

Now the retarded part.... is mine the only sled that pukes oil out of the cap?

At first I thought I had maybe cross threaded the cap, found that it can go on crooked and seem like it is tightened correctly. Have been paying more attention to that and it seemed to do the trick for a few hundred miles. Rode again today and rolled it out of a stuck, only to find that it PUKED oil again.

I haven't checked the cap closely yet, waiting for the sled to thaw in the garage first. Maybe it is on crooked and I have to be more careful.

Or is it possible that when I am by myself and rocking the machine back and forth to get the momentum to roll it that the oil is sloshing back and forth against the check valve and allowing oil to puke out?

When I say puke, I mean puke. Snow is blue, and oil is running down panel below the left intake.

Again, I may be retarded, and your comments won't offend me. I just want to solve the problem. It makes a huge mess and is a pain to clean. The engineers did do a good job in that the oil doesn't get on the belt-- I am happy for that.

Thought I only had to worry about puking oil when I rode my Yamaha Nytro...

murph, take it to the dealer and let them fix it...polaris sleds arnt known for leaking oil out the cap..and my pro doesnt leak any at all when its on its side...

first off, yes you are a retard (remember my comments won't offend you as said above) second you shouldn't be having that problem no matter what, i would check your cap closely like you said when it thaws out. if you accidently cross threaded it and it hurt the threads on the cap or the tank it could continue to cause your issue since it can't seal well anymore, worth a check anyway. i'm jealous of your miles!

I had the same problem... I think the cap was not seated correctly since I cleaned up the mess it has not leaked any. Just be careful when threading it on so it makes a good seal.

sure does suck trying to clean all that oil up!:face-icon-small-fro

mine does too. also thought i cross threaded the cap on but it was down tight. idk, i better take it to town and have it looked at then? seems to be the worst place to put an oil tank that anyone could ever think of, right above the clutches. better get er fixed

The oil cap on my Edge XC800 would go on slightly crooked every once in a while and end up leaking some oil out just while riding. The cap looks the same on my Pro as the Edge, so it may still be an issue. I can't imagine it running out though, just seeping a bit.

On a side note, you say everything was blue. Does that mean you're using the non-synthetic Polaris oil? Shouldn't you use the Polaris Gold Plus synthetic? You may have exhaust valve problems with non-synthetic.

Yes, using Polaris Blue Semi-Syn. I trust Indy Dan's opinion on synthetics and Polaris cranks. Cleaning power valves doesn't scare me. I'm pretty anal. My belt has been off and scrubbed about 10 times in 970 miles, clutches get scotch brighted and then wiped off with brake cleaner. I'm just tired of cleaning up the oil mess...it sucks.

So, I feel like a little less of a retard after reading responses. Would a second O-ring under the cap help or hurt my cause. I even thought of teflon tape over the threads. Just really hate the oil mess!!

I think a billet cap/o-ring would be the best option. my crossfire used to puke gas out when on its side, not anymore! And I'm also a fan of using the non-synthetic blue oil. If you think you NEED synthetics in 2-strokes, you've been brainwashed.

Murph...

Take it back to Thor and have him put a claim in... I was on some pretty hammered demo sleds without this problem... and those sukkas were ABUSED!!

Push to get the tank and cap covered if you are finding that it is getting cross threaded.

Good Luck.

sounds like poo is following right along in skidoo's foot steps. i have had the leaky oil tank cap issue on my last 3 doo's. fixed it for a while with a 09 dragon cap on my 06 for a while but the problem came back. fixed it for good when i took the oil bottle out and went to premix. better for the pistons and no mess in the engine bay. ****ty to not be covered under waranty when pre mixing, but when the oil is over the clutches,,,,,,:face-icon-small-sho fuxk that.

I had this problem once... Didn't tighten cap all the way.. ops

yes getting the cap on straight.. can be tricky...

once you do.. its got to be tight!!

my .02

My cap seems tight and when I rolled it to get unstuck, ie took a minute to get it over, it had leaked a surprising amount of oil, even leaked onto the snow as you mentioned. Post up if you found a solution.

Well at least I'm not riding the short bus alone :face-icon-small-win
