Oh yes, belay the historian, for he can but merely delay the building entropy of the inevitable repetition of history. For no uniquely new mistakes are ever cast, only the recasting of the countlessly repeated mistakes sprinkled about history. For every other generation believes those before thy, were but fools, who possessed an instantaneous plus of dark dreary hearts projected upon all mankind. But in a instant, the all knowing generation of less than a score years, wakes to discover they stand accused of the vary crimes they so deeply held, only belonged to "that" generation before them.
