I got to use my spot today.

So the FD was seeing your movement sent from the SPOT to their GPS? How did that work or am I not getting something?

Well, in a police car they have a mobile uplink (internet connection) I would assume he had the same thing. If you're at home watching the spot track, every 10 min you can see it move to a different spot, so if 911's refresh rate is more rapid than regular track, they would see it moving rather easily & quickly.

As for Cody's back (Cody Moreshead from fort collins) he's in a lot of pain, but was released from the hospital last night with nothing broken. It was a simple sounding thing, he just hit some hard snow & it jerked the sled, but he had a prior injury so it laid him out. He laid there for a while thinking he'd just let it relax, but it didn't go away.
He'll be ok, but it sounds like it's pretty painful.

Kind of a dumb question, but when you signal the 911 call button do you press it quickly once or do you hold it down for a few seconds? I bought one last year, figured it was easy enough to use and tossed the manual. I know how to use the tracking feature, help call, and ok feature. Hoping I never have to use it.

The 'OK' feature is super nice to let your significant other know you are running late from the hill or to let them know where you are if there's no cell coverage.

Kaleb,
Were you guys riding Jones? If so how was the snow up there?

that was the reason he got hurt. He hit a chunk of our lovely wind-stiffened snow. I can't honestly say it's worth riding up there unless you just want to drop cornices or climb, everything but the faces under the cornices are wind-blown to he**.

I am glad to hear everything turned out ok, and that you got to play with the spot. Maybe someday I will actually get off my *** and participate in this sport.
