Yep just over 4 years from when I first started dating my wife and her daughter(at the time, now all mine) I finally was able to adopt my oldest daughter yesterday!!!!!!

What made it even better was that my parents were able to drive 4 hours to be there, which is alot considering my dad just had prosate surgery last week.

Also had one of the greatest conversations of my life with my old man as they were leaving.

We were loading up and I said "thanks for coming Dad", he gave me a big hug and just said, "you're a good man". I didn't cry when the judge finalized the adoption, but my old man damn near made me tear up.

Here is the "newest" kid this summer out on the quad riding the swamps.

I was allready her Daddy from about 1 year old....it's just that now we NEVER have to worry that the chithead who knocked my wife up will ever show up and try to be involved. My wife always had that thought at the back of mind right up until the judge declared Emma to be mine. I can't even imagine what it must have been like for her to live with that, or do spend the first year of Emma's life wondering if she would ever have a daddy. I know my father-in-law is relieved as well, until I came around he had to not only be Papa, but had to be the father figure in his granddaughters life.

I can't figure out how some guys can live with the fact that they may have gotten a girl pregnant and not have the balls to find out if the child is theirs.

When my wife got pregnant with Emma she had just broken up with her boyfriend because he was a meth head, and the "father" was just a fling. Guess who maned the F up to find out if the kid was his....yep a guy who was jacked up on meth and more sense and balls then the actaul "father". I think there is a reason why my wife never showed my a picture of the "father", because I know I would beat the ever living chit out of him, and on the flipside if I ever saw her Ex I would give that man a freaking hug.

Congrats!! She is absolutely precious. :rose: I instantly got a smile on my face when I saw your pic of her.

Thanks for sharing this touching event, and sharing those special words from your Father to you. Family IS everything!!

My son was 18 months old when me and his mom got together he is now 20 years old and just Joined the United States Marines one of the coolest days of my life is when he asked if i would be his daddy. Big props to ya :D

Congrats! We have 2 adopted boys from different parts of country and they look like full brothers. It's definitely an emotional deal, I cried like a baby when the birthmother handed us our firstborn and left the hospital alone. That must have been one of the hardest decisions a 14 year old girl has to make.

Congrats to you, man. Thats a huge thing for a little girl. It's a great thing for you too.
Just out of curiosity, what county? Who was your judge?
