Hyak avalanche/landslide

Took out at least one house, and i'm sure the one below it. the house was still intact, just slid down a little. The state patrol has the road blocked so i can't get any pic's of the house. I don't know if everyone was ok, they just wanted everyone to stay away.

Wow, I can't image what is happening elsewhere.. Mt. baker (ski hill) is shut down today and thursday due to an avy on the road. All passes are closed down due to snow and land slides.... flooding....

Sure seems like the end of the world.

wow, i was just riding Hyak a week back or so.. of course it was waste deep cold pow though.. and slow and flat.. that place isn't even steep. but that side of the hill can get wind loaded too. i can only imagine what its like in the un-controlled areas

It looks like that one lift tower was undermined enough to put that lift down for sometime. Nice photo and yes better than the news one I just surfed over.

I don't think hyak will open after this, they have been talking about a new chair for years, maybe this will get it going. If it doesn't open this year sleding on it should be game on!

I've never pulled out my clinometer but I'm betting that face is 30 degrees tops, sketchy. I was just up there on Sunday. Looks like the Keechelus chair is going the way of the Dinosaur chair. They should just open all of Hyak and Mt. Catherine open to sleds now. Bet that would stoke out they Nordic center.
