How to put a bigger lug on a 2010 XtX without taking off cooler protector?

Can I go to a 1.75 or 2" without taking off the cooler protector or do I have to? How much greater are my chances of hurting the cooler that way? Thanks, Brad.

You can keep them on.You have to notch the track where the protectors are.
