HOw many of you got pulled over by State Troopers on your way from PVille Sat night?

Yep, we started to see them when we got down by Willow, parked on the side of the road in their F250's (hard to pick out as a trooper vehicle) and then saw 3 more with a customer by Meadow Lakes.

Got ticket from Houston Cop, didn't slow down for the 45 mph zone. Guess he trying to make a living giving tickets in whats not even a wide spot in the road.

Glad I didn't go to p-ville yesterday. I ALWAYS forget to slow down coming into Houston!

Snowmachiners are easy targets , big trucks w/ trailers - sled decks .The speed limit is 65 most of the way and then it's all the sudden 45 in a few areas and the speed limit signs are generally sprayed with snow from the plow trucks - gotta love it

Lets see Wasilla to Houston 55mph, Houston 45mph, Houston to Willow 55mph, Willow to other side of Willow 45mph, to a few miles past Willow Creek 55mph, Willow Creek to just before Talkeetna cutoff 65mph, Talkeetna cutoff to a mile past railroad crossing 55mph, then 65mph till Trapper Creek. Just remember the local cops in Houston have there own little pissing posts don't give them the satisfaction. And besides in my opinion much over 65mph is plenty fast anyway especially with the amount of side roads and now that they have clear cut the shoulders for next years road job the moose are out thick thew this area.

we saw a couple trucks with the sleds on the trailer sideways .... skis and tail end of the sled sticking out past the trailer... just to let you know that is illegal! . 8'-6" is max width and we know most sleds are a little longer than that ;). just a heads up to those who didnt know. had a couple buddys get a ticket for that. but yeah them guys poopers stayed busy last night.

Maybe they should spend a little less time handing out tickets and more time hunting down the rediculous amount of thieves in that area.

I appreciate the good cops out there, but this statement is dead on. I've seen cops spend more time filling out paper work for a speeding ticket than they did reporting a stolen sled...and that's all they do, file a report and hope someone else finds it.

It might have something to do with there's no money in finding stolen sleds, but I've been wrong before.

Ditto that! A friend had someone keep picking off parts from his place. Call the cops 3 times.. the third time they told him not to call anymore.:confused:

I guess the state needs money. At least that is what the statie's did back east. I graduated with a guy who was a state trooper and he had a monthly amount he had/should make each month handing out fines. Coming second hand I would have not put so much faith in hearing that but that came right from the camels mouth.

Last Christmas a guy almost ***-ended me and he took out a power pole. I told the cop someone must be without power and it is pretty cold outside. He looked at me and said he didn't give a **** since this wasn't his normal area. Once again:confused::confused::confused:

Theives generally have no money soo they have too get people who commute to work and knowing that a truck full of snowmachiners is a nice ticket they knows is gonna get paid. Why ticket the people with no money, waste time and paper when they can bust the people who work lol. Neat how that works. But aside from that, there are a lot of good APD cops and troopers. They could always be LAPD, be thankful

I got nailed in that 45 zone before.... at that point in time, the 45 sign was knocked down at a 45 degree angle, i wouldn't even call it readable. Soon as the trooper let me go, i turned around to see if there was a sign, found that... took a picture and fought it in court..... AND STILL LOST!

Good police work.... saving lives.

On another note, i saw Officer Peterson last night at the shìtzmark, he is a pretty cool guy. It was funny to follow him out to the fire in the back and watch the pot heads disperse!

Don't want the ticket? Get a radar detector or drive the posted speed. Driving back yesterday was hillarious. I won't name who, but they were in such a hurry to pass to get in line with the rest of us behind the slow moving Valley traffic.

And exactly how would they go about finding a stolen sled. If anyone has a good answer then the AST has a job for you!!:p

+1. People ***** when troopers pull people over, then ***** when people drive crazy. Boohoo dont speed or drive like a dick and you will be fine.

My valentine was the best money I ever spent.

My .02$

I "get" why we, the generally law abiding citizens, are "targeted."

I see it in Wasilla all the time. People ask , "...why are they busting "x" for a traffic violation instead of going after a more dangerous "Y"?"

Let's put an associate of meth et al in for y and me in for x. Insert any other infraction for "y" and it works just as well.

You can bust a person for using/selling/smelling meth, and send them to jail, give 'em a court date, confiscate all their worldly possessions, convict and sentence, and all you did was rack up a huge bill (admin fees, site demolition/remediation, etc.), to get this low rent person off the street, for a minute really.

That's it, no immediate incoming revenue by way of judgment or fine, confiscated goods, or assets, but only, maybe a slight societal change in a few years, from this individuals incarceration.

However, If you can pull over many men and women who work hard, are towing several ten's of thousands of dollars worth of equipment and material, are driving a fairly expensive tow rig and have just spent a few hundred dollars on their weekend, you know they got money, disposable income really. And they will most likely pay their fine in 30 (Thirty) days or less, right?

Instant income, now they can afford their new tactical vests, light bars, training, etc. Hard working men and women will pay their fines promptly and fully, every officer/trooper is counting on that.

Another concept is "Probable Cause", and many LEO's will use ANY traffic stop to gain access to you vehicle in hopes of encountering a larger crime.

Along those lines, their is a "License Plate Light "for your trailer, almost all trailers have them, even if your plate is mounted way under like mine. Make sure it works, or you have given them another reason to pull you over.

I could be totally off base here, but that is my take.

And....in the immortal words of Flashy Freddie,

"..don't hate the player, hate the game.."

LEO's are for the most part, good men and women doing a difficult job, just like you and me there are parts of our jobs we don't like, but have to do any way.

If people abide by the speed limits then they won't get pulled over, it's really that simple. If you feel you need to haul a$$ and put other peoples lives in jeopardy then you deserve that ticket and will more than likely get a few more in your lifetime. I don't really understand why people complain about getting a ticket, it's not the troopers or the cops fault that people are speeding.

John, when the sign is practically knocked over and those same officers know that and sit near that sign and pull you over for doing 57 in a 45... that doesn't fall into your simple equation. I had a radar detector, but i didn't think i was speeding, so i didn't bother braking... The fact i was driving a Silverado SS and he was a self righteous moron who has probably never taken an ethics course probably played more of a role.

BTW - radar detectors of mostly BS - they don't work 80% of the time, and they encourage dangerous driving.

AND - A good portion of Troopers/APD are good people with good intentions... its the few like APD Officer James Conley (patrols HWY from Highland exit to Thunderbird falls) that create public distrust and encourage this so called B*tching...

well

the whole your supposed to know is bs.... theres no book of law they give to everyone with all the little updates as they change, you have to have a lawyer figure out what they really mean and what you really did wrong half the time.

yet we are expected to know and abide by all these laws or we will get fined....

the system is designed for revenue not to keep the public safe, ya it does help.... but most cases its a waste of our money and we get to pay for it by "
not knowing the book of law well enough"

but once we get a ticket our insurance goes up ect... we know then! lol
