I am thinking of trying out the new pro and snow checking one but i am affraid off the polaris 800 i would like to hear how they are working so far.

2,000+ miles on my Pro at Little Truckee Summit (Not so far from Yuba)
800+ miles of GF Pro.

Some have gone down, but no more than E-techs and M's. Nowhere near the problems of the Dragons.

I'd do it again with a 2011. The 2012 will have all the things they learned during 2011.

Stop waffling.... Snocheck a Pro. You won't regret it.

1,200 absolutley trouble free miles, gets the same mileage as my 800 e-tech friends in powder. The only difference is when we stop their checking my sled out alot more than Im thiers. Motor has been spot on 100%.

800 trouble free miles then Boom, But why would you care? Polaris had a new motor in my sled in 10 days! Plus I still have 3 more years of warranty, worst case scenario you pay $50 for a new motor every year.

A motor a year? Ya, that wouldn't concern me at all.

Boy I'd love to head out on a 4 day trip riding that. :face-icon-small-con

I know of two Pro just over 800 miles one had main bearing failure and other a rod bearing failure. No direct cause could be found for both.:face-icon-small-sad

I care the season is short and the 800 polaris motor has not been a good one in my opinion if it took out motor every 1000 miles what will it be worth in a few years when you want to sale it i would say not much

Lots of similar threads, most people haven't had a problem, a few have. Love the sled!! No problems, but only 500 miles.

No problems here. 1,000 miles. I ride with three other Pro's and they are running just fine. One needed a new TPS and one has needed adjustment. Love this thing.

just towed a friends sled off the mountain, it was running great, then boom. coolant and rod berring cage along with a big chunk of case laying in the belly pan. 1200 or so miles. was just joking with him 3 miles before explosion, that it will blow up within 500 miles, didn't make it 3.

We have 3 163's in our immediate group, none of them have had any warranty work done to them, all rip...in the larger group their is 8-10 total, none have blown an engine, a few have had electrical gremlins(rubbed wires on 1 , injectors replaced on another)other wise they too have been great.....

Been a long time cat fan my whole life. Snow checking a pro within the next two weeks. Im not too worried about the engine. Seems they run a little lean on oil so that will be the first thing I mess with. Getting a little more oil in the crank case couldnt hurt. Anyways iv rode with/on a pro all winter and the thing rips! Gunna be a long summer...

Every so often I add a little to the tank to get the oil through the crank. I don't have stats, but compared to the CFI4, the motor problems seem to be in a very small group. Don't get me wrong, if mine goes I'll be pissed. But at least it doesn't feel like we are sitting on a time bomb.

Sounds better then a 2 year old sled with 3,000 miles

If your riding 200 miles a day on your trip, you should consider a 4 stroke

What if the sled already had 600 miles on it, then you wanted to go on a 4 day trip?? That only gives you 50 miles/day. Perhaps bring a spare engine? :face-icon-small-dis
