How Good is the 600 Going to Be??

Steph that sled won't even know you are on it! Her on a 600 is just you guys on an 800 plain and simple HP versus mass.

Your post question would be "HOW GOOD WILL STEPH BE ON THE 600?" answer in a about a week of stick time...twice as good as she was on anything she's ridden to date. Smile will be that big as well! I bets your husband has a PRO chassis before the end of the season.

Oh and I can make the 600 go like your everyday 8 with a couple of tricks and goodies.

NOTE: the 7 only netted a whisker more HP in EPA ready version than the 6...pretty simple business decision to limit the choice between the two...it still should have been marketed as an entry level vehicle and priced as a catalyst to the 800. Apparently marketing and accounting didn't think so. BOOOOOOOO

Fbomb, it's clear you know a lot of stuff, but let me tell you what I experienced first hand. Until about 6 months ago I owned a 05 600 RMK 144, and I still own an 05 700 RMK 151. Both sleds only had an SLP can, otherwise stock. I can assure you that there is a very noticeable difference in torque with the 700. The 600 was a little snappier just off throttle, but in a drag race (on packed snow with same weight riders) was at least 4 or 5 sled lengths behind the 700 in about 100 yards. I never tried to compare the 2 sleds in deep snow because the 700 has a track advantage, but had both sleds in enough deep snow to know the 600 simply could not go where the 700 could go regardless of the bit shorter track.

I really like the 600 in general, because they just feel quick and nimble, and are a very fun tree sled but the 700 is noticeably stronger. Just one guys experience. The PRO Ride chassis changes the discussion quite a bit, and until someone puts an 700 in one we will only be able to speculate. I suspect my experience supports the guys who are talking about a 600 big bore, which should be as strong or possibly stronger than a stock 700 as we know them.

Rob, can you expand on the "tricks and goodies" portion? I'm planning on sending my '12 600 top end to Carls next week to get implants (660 kit). I'm on the fence as to whether I made the correct decision to go with the 660 or stock 800 (2012 RMK). I was never pleased with the bog/hesitation in my '09 RMK and '09 D8 and therefore decided to go back to the 600's.

I should add that I only weigh about 145 lbs so I can definitely take a 600 places a lot of people may not be able to. The sled I rode would only pull 7400 rpm max where we were at that day. Had it pulled 8k+ It may have made a huge difference on its ability to climb some of the bigger hills straight up.

The 600 will have a better power curve, the power will come on faster. Yes it will die off on the top end and this is where the 800 will show the extra displacement but in the trees, on/off throttle it will excel.

No disrespect but every 600 I've had in the hills needs a "windup time" to go from low throttle to WOT so it requires better anticipation for "situations". 660's and 685's don't seem to have this lag issue.

The dude who compared it to the other 600 (120-125hp) machines nailed it. The Pro will be the best 600 out there, no doubt. JMHE

Correct me if I'm wrong but I beleive that 05 700 you're speaking of was the laydown 700 motor polaris had out. Actually a true 755cc (and a torquey motor from what I had read) so maybe that played a but more into your factor? I dont know how that motor compared to the improved true 700cc cfi that was out around 07.

Nope, not a lay down motor, same basic motor as the 600 and 800. I don't have any personal comparison between the CFI 700 and the carb'd version I have. The 05 looks identical to my friends 02 700. The biggest difference was the 05 has PERC reverse, both are VES motors.

Wasn't the 755 in the 06? Hopin' to match up to the M7 in performance . . . or at least that's how I remember it, but then my memory . . . er, what were we talking about?

Hmmm... that is because it is still a 600. I keep reminding my husband that he will be disappointed when my sled comes but I will be really happy.

Not everyone wants a 800, I don't and I don't need one either. I'm not going to pulling the same lines on the hill as him and frankly that doesn't matter if I am on a bigger cc sled or not. The things I want to do the 600 lends itself to very nicely.

Plus from experience when you weight less you don't need a bigger sled to haul you around, I don't have trouble keeping up on my m7, it takes me everywhere I've ever needed to go and a few places I really shouldn't have been. I don't foresee it being any different on the 600, in fact with a more nimble chassis I'm thinking I might have the edge in certain situations.

I am soooooooooo ready for my sled to come in, this has been a very long summer!

Oh by the way, my husband has claimed the m7. He says it is just plain fun to ride, it will be the play sled. Slapped a mountain fit hood on it and a taller riser, he is looking forward to using it. lol

Steph is right here, I rode my 600 Renegade along side all my buddies with Summits and 800's I am lighter which helped but it just took a little more skill and sometimes a run to make it were they were going. Also I put my wife on the same sled at 120lbs she rocked it BIG time( when her hands and feet werent freezing) I seen her do stuff on that thing and go places I couldve never got it there. The first year I ever went to CookeCity I was on my 600 Renegade and alot of guys just laughed:becky: But when our whole group was stuck down in the the bottom of this hell run, I was the only one who never got stuck, all the guys were pissed and amazed when I would just spin it on a dime and go back and forth and ride it out of there:faint: So for some people this thing will Rock, others will never ride a 600 and thats why they make them in all sizes.

The 700 would be nice. I loved my D7. But...some say the new 600 is all around stronger than the IQ D7 was.

Bottom line...if you are concerned about power, get an 800. I still think the 600 would be fun and challenging w/o being boring. I'd love to do a 685 kit but at the same time I could have an 800 for that price. I guess if I had the money I'd have one along with so many other sleds!

I picked up my new Pro 800 at Clem's yesterday. He RAVED about the 600 Pro. Said it was the funnest sled he ever rode and he will ride it more than any other sled this winter. He's a big dude too, 280lbs or so, prolly 300 with all his gear.

Ahh yup in the edge chassis. I guess i stand corrected.

And Bag..you could be right. I'm with yah on the memory thing. Why did I bring up the laydown 755 again????:faint:
