How far do YOU go to ride?

first trip this winter.

Flew from MN to Portland, then drove from Portland to Spokane. Then we drove to Sandpoint, Fish Creek and the Hoodoos, not sure on how long those trips were. But the first drive was around 6 hours and the flights were about 4 plus check in...and did I mention I had a wife, 4 year old and a 8 month old:eek:

Well, I'm one those spoiled ones. Can ride right from my parents place where my sleds are most the time, or 10 mins to good stuff. About 20 mins to groomed trails from my apartment, or an hour to the really good stuff.

Oh come on X...just think of all the good times you had...and all the crap you get to give Sawyer now for cousin it ;)

Well I am lucky enough to have two choices to ride the same mountain range, Kings Hill in the Little Belts. I can load up in the trailer and in 1 hour can be at the parking lot next to the ski hill or when we have decent snow everybody comes to my house and we ride from there to the same area...usually go to the Monument Peak area:beer;:D

I can ride from home if I want to trail or ditch ride. Ditch riding can be fun if there is enough snow, but there usually isn't.

2 hours to the U.P. for some decent powder, powerlines, or riding at Evolution Sled Park

14 hours to the Snowies, my closest mountain riding.

17 hours to Cooke.

20 hours to Jackson/Pinedale.

29+ hours to Revy. Have only made that trip once, but WILL do it again! I thought our drive up there was a long one, until I helped a guy get unstuck and his whole crew was from New Brunswick......yeah 50+ hours!

I usually get up to the U.P. 3 or 4 times a year and usually a couple of trips out to the mountains.

Some day I'll make the trip to Alaska too. Although I don't know if I'll be able to drive so close to the Canadian Rockies without getting distracted and riding there instead.

Have to add that when we are in the mountains it's usually 5 or 6 full days of riding. Most places I ride we ride with some locals too, and they don't push it near as hard....they'll wait for the sunny days. But when you only have 10 or 12 days of mtn riding a year, you take full advantage when you're there!

Never said it wasn't worth it! Next time I'll be driving with my own sled...unless I can convince the wife to let me buy a different sled, then I'll just fly and find someone who will let me store it for a small fee, or a backup sled that they can ride most of the year.

How come people relay distance in hours?

Hell, I had one trip where it took 10.5 hrs to go from Revy to Calgary.

Anyway, 700 miles to Revy and 800 to Cooke City. Can usually make it to Cooke City in less time though because the roads are better the majority of the time.

i can leave from my house most of the time for good riding. but when i get bored of it i can drive to many good spots like alpine, afton, bone, and island park in 2 hours.:D

longest drive

:face-icon-small-coo 15 hours 1 way but picked up a couple buddies along the way. From Grande Prairie AB to Edmonton to Calgary then to Revy for a couple days then Sicamose then Valemont. We did three times this winter.Looking forward to next year:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;
