How bad will Lesnar beat Mir?

I know, I was hoping to maybe see him around there but no such luck. I just found out I'm not going back to Webster, not for a little while at least. Gotta show up tomorrow at the office and see where I'm off to next. :beer;

Hopefully somewhere that has SNOW! :beer;

yeah umm Lesnar was a college wrestling champ, I think he's familar with the ground.

very true, BUT, he has never been actually punched in the face, in a ring. also, from what i've seen and heard from others, wrestlers don't like to be on their backs much. no doubt he is big and strong and a very good wrestler. all these things make for a great base to start. but everyone needs to remember, mir is no slouch either. lesnar is reportedly coming in around 280lbs, and mir around 260 lbs. not a huge difference, especially in men that size. also, mir is a submission machine! if lesnar makes one mistake with an arm or leg, and he might leave without it! i think it will be a great fight, but i'm not sure how long it will last! i think lesnar will make an excellent fighter, if he can learn all the other fundamentals of mma, but in this fight he might be outclassed, for now

I think if he can make the fight a short one, he's home free.

I think the longer it lasts, that means more opportunity for Mir to take advantage of any micalculations made by Brock.

Many of you are FAR more knowledgeable about MMA than I.
All my opinion is based on is first-hand knowledge of knowing him.
Obviously, I am biased.
But I have seen how hard Brock has worked since childhood at positioning himself to where he is.

Brock will not submit from pain alone. He will have to be severly injured before he submits. It's just how he is.
This is a cliche' but it's as if he is impervious to pain.

I think he will be able to back up his talk.
Should be a good fight!

Experience in MIXED fundamentals will way heavy on lesner. This sport has become crazy with the level of the fighters abilities recently. He will have to be dedicated to the "ground and pound" and be able to recognize when a submission move is getting applied. It only takes a split second and you are tapping. I am guessing a triangle takes him out.

It seems like most inexperienced MMA fighters with a predominate wrestling background will get submitted a few times early in their career, but usually win the ground and pound.

possibly, but it's a little different when in a ring and the other guy is actually trying to knock you the F#$K out. not saying brock doesn't have a chance or anything, cause at that size, everyone who steps into that ring has a chance. just pure size, power and strength. but mir has been doing THIS type of fighting for a lot longer now than lesnar, and knows what can truely happen, as he has been on both sides of that coin. mir is not the same fighter he was before his accident, but his last fight he did look pretty good, and may be regaining his old form, and then watch out. as for lesnar, with enough experience and training, he may very well be one of the best ever heavy weights, but i don't think so just yet!

on a purely hypothetical situation, i always wondered what it would be like if the likes of the undertaker were to go to mma. that man is huge and can move. even more interesting actually would be the big show. not that too many people would sign up to fight a 500lb dude, but hypothetically it would be awesome to see.

I am not a fan of him, but someone like Jeff Hardy seems like he could do
well also.

I'm glad to see the WWE athletes get a shot at REAL MMA, I just hope it doesn't give people the wrong idea about UFC, Pride and such. It took along time for UFC to get to where it is today.

i agree, and lesnar has been out of "wrestling" long enought now that hopefully people will respect him, no matter how the fight goes

I think lesnar is going to have his hands full.. Although I do believe he has great potential in the sport.. this fight is going to be very hard for him to pull out a victory.. expecially if it goes past round one..

I have personally met both of them.. Lesnar to be nice is a fuggn d!ck.. couse this was when he was top of the WWE.. but I know a lot of people from around his home town that agree with me.. Mir is a regular guy that really has great fight knowledge and all around skill..

Either way.. should be a good fight to watch :D

Not to highjack the thread - but Mir vs. Lesnar isn't the main event. Tim Sylvia Vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is the main event and a 5 rounder for the interim heavyweight belt. Do any casual fans know why Randy Couture isn't defending the belt he beat Sylvia for? Or why BJ Penn is know the Lightweight title holder and why Sean Sherk was stripped of the belt. I'm just curious what kind of news the casual MMA - er UFC fan is getting.

As far as the randy couture deal... him and dana white had a dispute on contracts.. and his next fight.. UFC bought out Pride... Couture wanted to fight the current heavy weight champ in Pride.. Dana wouldnt sign him on for a fight.. so Randy resigned

As far as the Sean Sherk deal.. pretty sure.. but not certain.. it was that he tested positive for a controlled substance..

I think Sean Shirk was convicted of something...that's what the previews before the BJ Penn fight said.

Randy wanted Fedor. Dana wouldn't sign it...so Randy left.

Nogiera will crush Silvia.
