How are the plastic chain case covers working

It's funny how people change there mind when it happens to them...lol if you hit something hard enough with the old alm. Covers it would 95 percent of the time bounce over it. That is called durable. Now you can f u a side plate with a big hit...I guess... Never seen it in our group. This cover is a joke. I carry a spare in my tow rig. They went that way for cost. End of story. Now with not having the option of running a taller lug track my 14 kit is looking better and better all the time.

downgrade to upgrade!

got rid of my 15 long, before the bottom falls out, and got a '14 long and a long c3 track without adding any money. now if only the track would come in the mail today. bye bye plastic cover, zero track clearance, 6 tooth drivers, smaller brake rotor, ugly tipped up tunnel and 1 to 1 gearing in the case! I love the 14 for so many reasons, I like the taller seat height too, keeps my feet up out of the snow! braaap!

If you are going to push the limits and bang up stuff is going to brake. If I run a rock section in the summer and I brake a chain. So the manufacture need to make a better chain. No you need to take responsibility and that you are crazy and ride smarter. Same with the kits or a snowmobile. Be a man and take responsibility for your actions.

the 15 covers are cheap.i’d recommend ordering a half dozen, your gonna need them.

Our intentions with the plastic cover are to have slimmer rounded edge cover and that people do not bend tunnel when they smoke the chain case against a rock. What people do not see is how many of what type of replacement parts we sell. When there is low snow like we have had this year we see lots of bent tunnels and with that the expensive aluminum covers are also bent. With the plastic covers we have only seen very few bent tunnels on the new 2015 kits all this winter. All in people are fixing these things much cheaper and easier with just a chain cover because it gives when it gets hit.

If you are dead set on having an aluminum cover we also have those in stock for the 2015 kits. They cost $150. The plastic covers cost $40.

Allen I love the way your company has brought this sport to us. I see older guys out on the snow that would of hung it up many years ago. With trying new innovations, come mistakes. I beleive there were some that had expencive damage from hits, you heard about them as they had to order parts. What you didn't here was the many, myself included that hit things with my older chain case and no damage was caused. Now any hit ends in a 40 dollar chain case plus heading for the truck because I will not try to save a day of riding with a broken case. I will be returning my spare plastic for the 150 aluminum so put my name on one. I will be willing to pay the extra next year for the aluminum also so please make it a upgrade.

I can not understand why a broken plastic cover(most likely bottom only) would ruin a days ride? Unless chain and/or sprockets are damaged? The main drive chain runs in the open all the time! Pull up your skirt, keep your fingers and toes outta the chain and rage on!

I hit a stump last year with the Aluminum cover/side panel and bent both panels and trashed the cover! I appreciate any effort to narrow the profile and the "break away" cover design that can/will minimize major damage! Could it be made out of a more pliable material, maybe that's the final answer?

I smashed my aluminum one last year. Took the whole thing off and rode the entire day with the chaincase exposed. Doesn't hurt anything except your foot if you happen to get it caught in there. Tie up those shoe laces and ride!

If you want to ride with a broken chain case, more power to you. I take better care of my stuff than that ie...I don't want to walk out after a peice of the cover that didn't fall off goes through your chain. Riding it with a broken chain case is just stupid, but like some say, you can't fix that. Now is when you tell me your dad is going to come over and beat up my dad.

Don't worry Garry, my Dad did all his killing in Vietnam. The only thing he beats up these days is his garage door from running his snow plow into it all the time.

Like I said, pull up your skirt and quit making excuses! We get it, you don't like the plastic cover! And, it's impossible to take care of stuff better than me! Daily oil changes and full Timbersled inspections, including removing cover!

I think I would get along good with your dad rush. As we get older things are like my right mirror..closer than they appear. As far as pulling up my skirt. I ride naked:help: I also have my aluminum case ordered, tried to get Mitch to trade in my 40 dollar one but no such luck

So add me to the latest chain case casuality list. It looks like the side plates are still good though and it hit hard enough to take a corner off of the lower sprocket bolt. Only problem is Timbersled is out of stock on line. Where can I get one before next weekend??

I am in the spokane area and have a new cover for 40 bucks, I also have my like new original you could use until timbersled gets there's. I bought the timbersled aluminum cover so don't want to get rid of my original so I can keep install it before selling my kit, but if you are in a jam you can borrow it.

Last year i hit my alum cover so hard, all the standoffs bent into the side plate, causing the cover to rub on the lower sprocket. I didn't know that at the time, but after removing the cover, I found the rubbing had caused so much heat, the chain was blue, all the O-rings were in the bottom of the cover. The chain was wore out and sprockets badly hooked. Add up all that cost!!! I'll take the new cover that gives without tearing up chit.

Now John not every hit is the same. Maybe with that same hit, on your 15 kit you may have taken out the chain and sproket and not been able to ride home. I have seen the aluminum take far more abuse, with no failure. This year one
Little bump and goodbye plastic.

Rode priest yesterday, wet and heavy but sun. Had my new cover and hit stump that I know would of broke plastic, just a little nick. Sending my new plastic to A fellow timbersled rider on here as timber sled is sold out. If anyone else is waiting I have my plastic that came on my kit I will sell also. Pm me if you need one
