How are the New 800 Motors Holding Up???

ha ha

I said that years ago about a Cat I had, "I'll never buy another one of these POS's,,,,,,, low and behold, bought an 06 M7 and loved it. Had plenty of Poo's and most of them were flawless. Even had a Turbo Yammi, that had it's issues, but was a good sled. Almost bought a new Doo e-tec last year, but passed.......

Just sayin ya win some, ya lose some, but, I'll never be totally brand loyal... Just want good stuff, and I can't seem to stop wanting NEW stuff...

I am amazed and thankful when I look back, even just a few years, and see how far sleds have came....... beautiful....

And, I hope these manufacturers keep trying to come out with the latest and greatest, even though there may be a few flops in there, it's all good.

Still probably buyin a Pro. My buddies are havin pretty good luck...

Thanks for the info

Thanks for the information, this place is as good a source as any for unedited feedback. I cooked out two, yes TWO, Doo engines in a 3 day period this week. An 07 and an 08 and am looking at the POL but now I might wait to see if the problem items are fixed. Does the POL have a 4 year warrenty on the engine?

the 11 snowchecks you had a choice, 1 yr bumper to bumper, with a 2nd year engine + 700 in accesories, or a 4 yr, basically bumper to bumper direct thru polaris vrs thru their insurance as the 2 yrs is...I would guess the 12's will be the same...now as far as engine reliability....the pro bottom end is the same as the dragons, you can go back and look thru the archives, there really hasnt been any bottom end issues(yes 1 here and there as far as loosing a bearing, but most of those were on motors that had tore up several sets of pistons, so hard to say if shrapnel caused the issue from a previous episode), so bottom end wise..they are a very well built motor, shortly after the bulk of the 11's hit the snow polaris issued a bulletin for main oil lines kinked and rubbing on the bulkhead, and I think this is where some of these bearing failures are coming from...as for the topend meltdowns, with the changes polaris did taking this from a 4 injector to a 2 injector system(most all runability/burndown issues were happening right at the injector transition, which isnt happening on the 2 injector system), a change in both design and manufacture of almost the complete electrical and fuel systems, and much much better mapped fuel maps, I dont think you will see topend issues like we saw on the 08-09 dragons motors...I could be wrong, but I doubt it, when you climbed on any dragon for a ride you could feel fuel/air issues at some point in the throttle, the pro's dont show any of these issues, some had bog issues but i think most of that was hitting the revlimiter due to light clutching, those issues have also seemed to taken care of them selves, now with all that said..no manufacturer can mass produce a product without failures...just not going to happen, if you really look..other then some minor issues when first released..these sleds have really been quite reliable...

It would be interesting to know just how many Pro 800s there are on the snow this year, my guess is that it's a very big number.

Given the huge number of sleds, the fact that almost everything except the bottom end is new, it really is amazing how few problems you hear about, especially on a forum where everyone comes looking for answers to problems. The sheer lack of reported problems on a sled that has generated this much commotion in the sledding world speaks volumes to myself personally as to how reliable they are as a whole.

Good point Ford, I honestly dont know, I do know that it is pretty much impossible to find any pro or rmk sitting on a dealers showroom,i have heard there are still a few assaults, but not many..I know it was a big year for polaris, and from what I have seen alot of doo and cat guys jumped ship this season...kind of curious to see what happens on the 12 snowcheck, unless cat really comes out with something good, I think alot more are going to be looking at poo next season....

Oil

Normally I ran Doo oil but just bought a case of Amsoil full syn and added it to both machines that failed. A coincident???
