How are the New 800 Motors Holding Up???

800 miles on mine and it rips! I won't be doing much to the motor. I'll just coast on that 4 year warranty.

Props to Polaris for the rigourous testing in South America in the off season to get the CFI2 to work well. Some may say this is expected, but they made leaps and bounds with this new sled. Let's see what happens in the next couple years. How will the other 3 do in the mountain segment?

No problems with my 10.5 800R E-TEC, almost 1850 mi on. But let's have a dose of reality here: there are FIVE model years between your '07 DOO and an '11 POO. To compare the 2 experiences is quite the stretch, both in ride quality and technology/design/engineering. A lot has changed over those 5 model years.

So the reality is we dont care about your E-Tech, and if you had a pro 800 you wouldnt be posting crap in a SKI DOO forum.

You are exactly right about things changing over the last five years. Five years ago I barely considered anything but the Doo that I ride.. Looked at an M8 for about 2 min and would have never bought a Polaris...

Now?? Never really been that impressed with the XP, never ridden one for an extended period of time but I wish I would have, maybe I'd want one.

I love my Dad's 2010 M8, best sled I had ever ridden until.... My Ski-Doo blew up and I rode the new Polaris for four days in IP. Depends on what Cat comes out with this year, but I will either be on a new Cat or Polaris next year.

Thats why I was wondering about the motor...

Thanks

Bad News

Will I have 800 mile on my pro and I lost a piston skirt. Polaris has authorized a new motor but they are on back order till 2-25. We just went throw 6 weeks of no snow and now we have 6 feet of new fresh pow. I am Bummed.

No, That is all the dealer said. I hope I am the only one out there that this happen to, but my dealer said he had one other sled do the same thing. I love this sled and can't wait to get it back.

900 + miles on my Pro Assault 155... not even one single issue except for a bent a-arm by a landmine

My pro went down on the 11th of January. Rod bearing,Polaris authorized a new engine but they were on back order at that time. At that time I was told they would have motors on the 14th of January. 14th comes and I am told it will now be the 25th of January. Now is see they have you put of till the 25th of February. Dealer then got permission to order all new individual parts and assemble engine. My question is" where are all these back order motors going"? Are they putting them into sleds on the production line instead of replacing our blown motors?

350 miles on my Pro 163 and I lost a rod bearing this past monday. The mechanic said it was not an oil related failure.

Dealer is in the process of warranty paperwork and hoping to get Polaris to send a new short block. I hope my season doesn't end because of backorder status.

I still love the sled and cant wait to get back on it either way. Every model has a few sleds that break down every season, thats what warranty is for!

I would have a hard time understanding what would cause a lower end rod bearing failure at low miles other than an oil issue. Did the Mechanic mention what the cause was? I also have heard that the Pro runs at the equivalent of 100 to one ratio. One company that I talked with put 8oz of oil per tank in their 11 Pro's.

He said everything appeared to be well lubricated so he was unsure how it happened other than saying "somehow something got real hot".

What was also strange to me was he said there was a ridiculous amount of carbon buildup for the milage of the motor. After the first tank of polaris blue I have been running Klotz in it. He said the motor and power valves were nasty for a sub 400 mile sled. Klotz has always burned really clean for me so I don't know what the deal is with this motor.

Thats good to hear yer gettin back on the snow Track Man! Hopefully I'm in your boat before the snow melts

Hope this isn't true, but that was the same thing that happened to the rental that I had. I am probably going to wind up buying the new Polaris over the Cat but if my motor goes down it will be the last Polaris I ever buy.
