Hottest Temperature on your PRO?

Whats the hottest temperature you guys have seen on your PROs? I started mine today for the first time since May. I left it in the trailer to run for awhile, and when I came back it was reading 204 degrees! I immediately shut it off. When I started it again a few minutes later, it was reading 194. I pulled it into the garage and shut it off again. Has anyone else seen theirs this hot?

I usually see 150 maybe 160 tops when riding in snow

Sounds like you just let it idle too long, it shouldn't do anything bad to it, 204 isn't really that hot for most motors.

at 204 if you were riding you could assume your hyfax would be destroyed. But since your just sitting it shouldn't matter so much. Holy heck though how long did it sit??

I've seen 170 riding down the trail on a hot day. Never seen it this hot though. Kinda scared me

It was maybe 20 minutes. I started 4 sleds at the same time and pulled them all into the shop. The PRO was the last to be pulled in. I wanted to let it run for awhile since it hadn't been started all summer. I didn't want it to get THAT warm though!

The limp mode depends on rpm and temp. The ECU will determine that. I have seen similar temps (180*) on rock hard crust. Yes I had my scratchers down, but it was rock hard. I had to stop the sled and turn it on it side, then spin the track off the snow and slowly lower the spinning track into the snow while holding the sled from moving and "chainsaw" my way through the crust to throw some snow onto the coolers. Works great... But didn't go in limp mode because I never pinned it.

20 minutes idling in a trailer is definitely plenty of time to reach that temp without any snow cooling the coolant! I think the viton head o rings begin to melt around 250-300*... That is what you need to worry about.

Good to know. Im starting to feel a little better now. It was such a nice feeling to hear my sled run and breathe in some 2 stroke exhaust, I think I just got caught up in the moment and forgot to worry about the temp

Highest I've ever seen on mine was 202. It was a warm day, riding a packed ditch, trying to get to a dealership in town.

I was consistently running in the 170's on a spring day and it would go into limp mode at 185. I took it to the dealer to be scanned for other reasons and they said it had gone into limp mode 50+ times...... I was looking into increasing the cooling capabilities and then one day I did this..... Turned up the oiler! Now, I would admit that I don't know the hows and why's of why this made a difference, but it did. Since that day I have not seen it over 160 and thats riding in the middle of June.

On the contrary, My wife's 2011, has never seen a high temp and I have not done anything to that sled that would warrant the difference???

I don't know?? Thoughts??

Given the evidence above, you're riding like a girl now. :face-icon-small-ton

I've seen north of 1300 on my Pro.... Do I win?

Based on the skill level of the girls I ride with, I will most definitely take that as a compliment...!

And yes, you win! Your officially the first JA in this thread.... :-)

160 is the highest I've seen, I have four scratchers on the skid and a set on the skis. My sled looks like a centipede.
