Holz alpha x and boost

Does anyone have any experience or know how the Alpha x rear suspension handles boost? Keep the front end down and still handle well boondocking and tree climbing? It would be on a RMK 155. or would I be better off with the Mtn Tamer

Thanks

It handles it amzing. I ran it last year on the RMSHA circuit and in the mountains with a turbo and it performed flawlessly. I highly recommend it.

Dont remember off of the top of my head. But the great thing about his skid is you can try an infinite number of combinations all in a little time of testing. Simply lift the back of the sled up or roll it on its side and either add or remove air and go try it again. Pretty sweet when its that simple. And the new geometries with the alpha x help it greatly from over-transferring. Plus it goes through the bumps awesome.

So I can definitely see the need for possibly upgrading the shocks, or revalving, but why are we concerned about the suspension not handling the turbo? This is a "Holz" rear skid. I have run that skid on several other sleds, with great luck. They ride great, don't trench, and transfer very well. Mark (Holz) has leased his design to Polaris, and I'm curious as to why people are shooting it down, with out any seat time on it. I get the "Stock Sucks" mentality in the past, but there has been a dramatic change in the industry lately. Manufacturers are building sleds based on what we want, testing were we ride, and adding features so that we don't have to buy the sled, and then spend more money making it how we want it. That is why (partially) sled prices are going up, but I'd rather pay 12K up front, than 20K in the long run, after replacing everything on my new sled. Anyhow..........

Does anyone have firsthand info, running a turbo on a HRP Skid? I have run several with large doses of NOS, but never with a turbo, and it handled the extra HP just fine.

I ran the Holz Alpha X for 2 seasons on my 09 Dragon turbo running 14lbs of boost. The Holz skid did great and handled the power just fine. That suspension was awesome!!! Holz makes a great product and I will have his front suspension on my new Turbo Pro with all of Carls Cycle shocks. I am going to try the new rear skid that Polaris has seeing as it is almost identical to Holz's and see how it does first. Another thing to remember is that all
155's come with flat rails. That alone will help keep the skis down.

Kestrel..he is wanting it for the 155 RMK which is an IQ RAW chassis not the PRO. Here are two examples of the different sleds one with ALPHA-X EVOL X/float and one with 2011 stock guts over FOX RACING SHOX Evol R/PRO combo.

My post actually was one I wrote in the "timbersled upgrade" thread in the Pro-Ride section. Mountain Horse moved it because I guess he thought it was more applicable here. The point I was trying to make was that people were trashing the new skid on the Pro's, when no one has very much if any seat time on it. Basically going on a rant, lol. Whatever I guess, if people want to replace parts simply because they are "stock" (so they must be garbage), then I guess go for it. In the long run, it is good for aftermarket parts builders, and the well being of the industry. My thinking is that things should be tested before they are written off, so that the faults and flaws can be found, and fixed/replaced accordingly. Not just blindly bolt things onto your sled. Anyhow.....I'll quit my rant now. Long story short, I didn't originally post in this thread, it was moved here by a moderator. Sorry for the confusion

Do the rails that come with the AlphaX set up need to be cut for anti-ratchet drivers? and the rails are flat not rounded like the stock rails right? Im thinking about buying the set up.....

I dont know about having to cut the rails, and it looks like the rails are tipped up in the pic but I havent had a chance to talk to them directly yet. But, they do have them marked down to 2125.00 from 2500.00 at least for the Polaris IQ

Sweet thanks for the info, I just put my order in a few hours ago so i hope i will be happy with my choice.
aus091 how did the set up work in the steep and deep?

I really like it. I have a couple people that i ride with that had the 155 with the stock skid and the comparison all around is night and day. I ran the stock track on it for a couple rides then switched to the camo extreme and i like it even more, the weight transfer is awesome. I hope to see it really shine now with boost on the sled.
