HMK intuition insulation, are these supposed to be cooked?

I just got some HMK voyager boots and while the foot length is the right size and all, my feet are swimming in them, even with decently thick socks. I noticed they use an intuition closed cell insulation. In the ski and snowboard world, this means a thermo-fit liner. As in you heat the thing, it expands, and then you put your foot in it and it shapes to your foot as it cools.

Is that the deal with these? It would make sense with how large the volume is around my foot.

They're supposed to be heat moldable, but if you can't get them at least a little tight now. I question if the heat molding will make up the deference?

The foam will expand with heat, but will also ream back out with use if the shell fit is too big. Or that's how they work in ski boots.

Can you add an orthotic or footbed to take up some room?

If liner s removable, could add the flat boot shaped spacers underneath the liner. Forget what it's called, but good boot fitter would have the stuff. Basically over priced thick paper type stuff.

These aren't a separate liners it's just a solid 'normal' boot.

But there's an intuition tag and a statement claiming they're an 'intuition closed cell insulation'

So yeah it's a little different than the ski boot liners I've cooked over the years. I was just wondering if it's the same stuff, just integrated into the boot.

I think I'm just going to heat them up and see what happens. :face-icon-small-ton

And yeah, definitely throwing some thick footbeds in.

Rice?

Don't know if I'd have guts enough to cook the whole boot?

But yea, get your drift. Ain't much solid info. on the boot. Some retailers say cookable, others don't say squat.

I talked to someone at HMK. Good to go on the heat.

I'll get them cooked tomorrow and see how much volume I can reduce. I have access to a pretty mild air system for snowboard boots I've used over the last few years for ski and snowboard stuff.

I also found out these are last year's boots. I guess the new ones do have a removable liner.

When i first got my hmk team boots they were really loose around my ankle and the top of my foot. I ended up getting a foot bed that raised my heel to take up the extra room and I cooked the boots using the rice method, and the boots fit like a glove now. I would throw a footbed in your boot to takes up a little extra room before you cook them, just in case.

I just got my normal shoe size. US 9.

Yotamob: are the team ones all one piece or a separate removable liner?
