Highjackers?

He's saying that this device gives you confidence to out by yourself because if you get stuck you can get your sled out. Who's going to dig for you or even search for you in the unfortunate circumstance that you bury yourself in an avy? If your sled breaks down are you going to walk out on foot? Just saying...

Confidence? WTF!! more like saves my back when I trying to dig out or lift.
Yes I do ride by myself some times but I know the risks and don't ride in avy areas if I'm alone. You obviously haven't seen one in action to make comments like that. Last season we had 70feet of snow and on the deep days where everyone was getting stuck the guys with the shovels were taking way longer to dig out than us. Each to there own I guess.

When I get to be old and feeble, I will think about getting one of these.. or an electric wench.. LOL Until then I will NEVER ride a lone, just plain stupid to ever ride alone, or I will always make sure I have some young fellers with good backs along for the ride. In my group no one would wait long enough to assemble and re-stow a jack, when it usually only takes minutes to get a very stuck sled moving again. To each their own...

Us Aussies must be hardcore :face-icon-small-ton, must say that where I'm riding alone which is not that often is close to roads and proprieties so a walk out if needed is no big deal. Probably should also say that I'm in two differen't search& rescue teams too so I'm trained to deal with most stuff.

This training then should also speak to keeping and maintaining essential equipment... As many others have said, it's a back saver, a time save, possibly a lifesaver, a tool ( also as aaid by many others, I have also straightened linkage, torn up a-arms, pried off of trees etc... )

can,t bring my self to strap a 5 foot pole to my sled

I was the same when I first saw one, how the hells that's going to fit on my sled but if its mounted right its not a problem. You just want to make sure its up against the tunnel.
