Highjackers?

Doesn't seem to be many people using them. What your thoughts?

I love my jacker on those deep days when your by your self.

Almost everyone that I ride with has one. If you truly ride the steep and deep then you should have one. We tend to ride in smaller groups so it's nice to have when you don't have a bunch if ppl to help dig out, or when you bury yourself away from your group. That said, stick with the high-jacker that Bill Harmon created... There is a knockoff piece of chit that some douche in pagosa made after seeing Bill's, you don't want that one.

My .02 anyway
J

If you ride with at least 2 other healthy guys you don't need one no matter how deep you get stuck. Most of the time we don't even get out shovels out. We just try to figure out where the top of the seat is and start stomping and yanking. LOL

Yeah we usually just roll the sled or pop it out.. But for those other times that I noted, worth it's weight in gold!

I don't think you need one, With how well the pro gets up on the snow.....

You just have to tip it from side to side and stomp down some of the snow under the belly pan and usually your good to go.

When your in the steep and deep just roll it out.( lock your brake on)

If it's not in the steep all I ever have needed with the pro so far is a shovel and in the steep just rolling it out.

Never ride without it. Why make your buddies come over and help dig you out? It's a great back saver.

This picture shows the strength of the hijacker and the flexibility of the bar. Sled was uphill with one ski lodged around base of tree. I thought I was going to ruin my highjack bar when it bent with the last two cranks but it straightened right out as soon as I released the jack. It would have been bad to had a tibia in front of that baby if the jack had slipped.

My buddy was busy jacking his sled out of a sink hole about 1/4 mile away. Would have been a lot walking and huffing to help eachother out of the mess we were in that day. Took us about 20 minutes to get both sleds out of really bad stucks solo.

Love the hijacker!

Precisely my point, well said!

Anytime you start off by saying this, it just shows the target market for a manufacture of such a silly device...

Next time I'm involved with a search and rescue, if the victims sled had one of these mounted on it I'd "hi-jack" it alright, long enough to hit the victim over the head with it and knock some sense into him...

Lame... Of course a tool is only as good as its owner... Or something like that

He's saying that this device gives you confidence to out by yourself because if you get stuck you can get your sled out. Who's going to dig for you or even search for you in the unfortunate circumstance that you bury yourself in an avy? If your sled breaks down are you going to walk out on foot? Just saying...

I hope he ment when your stuck by yourself, as in where no one can come and lend a hand, been there, done that, with the group watching from down below....sucks to have such an awesome sled that it out climbs others, and they can't come up and lend a hand:face-icon-small-ton

Lol, that or it's a tough enough or tight enough line that it is a difficult "rescue".

I mean put anything in the hands of an idiot and..... Along those lines lets ban guns, cars, alcohol and lots of other chit while we are at it, that way no more search and rescues, no more robberies, no more vehicle related deaths, and no more alcohol related badness!

Never ever would I have thought I would have one of these on my sled. Fast forward, I now would never ride without Bill Harmons Highjacker. "THE ORIGINAL"
I have used this so many times and for so many different things it is unreal. You can get yourself out when no one can get up to you, or they shouldn't try. Have straightened a-arms to get home. Pushed away from trees. Pushed rear axles back to secure and tighten tracks. Used to seperate tangled sleds. Buddies don't get all sweated up trying to pull on skis. I can have it off and sled out before buddies even know your stuck and they get to keep riding rather than helping pull sled out.
The uses are endless and once you have it you will never go without. This will sound like a sales plug but that is not the intention but I do sell them at the lodge for $245 plus shipping. Great product.

Just like anything else, the more tools you have at your disposal, the easier life can be. There are times that guys can just lend a hand and pull a ski , sometimes rolling is easiest. Last year we used mine to get a sled out of a creek. Many many uses.
