Please vote against this closure of lands to our local Colorado people. We enjoy our freedom in this great beautiful state that's why we live here. The middle class support this state and that's the kind of people i run into while using the land that's available to us. As a Colorado taxpayer and voter I want to encourage you listen to the people that live here and keep these areas open for us.

There is a meeting Wednesday September 9, at the Carbondale Town Hall, to discuss the Hidden Gems Wilderness proposal.

I think it is important that as many people as possible attend this meeting to show that there is opposition!

The meeting is at 7:00 pm, Carbondale Town Hall, and is in room #2.

There is a meeting tomorrow – Wednesday at 7pm at the Carbondale Town Hall - Room 2 - for the Hidden Gems - this is open to the public - please come and voice your opinion!! They are trying to hold these meetings secretively so no public comment is available – come and stand up for your rights.

If this passes – no dirt biking, mountain biking, snowmobiling, jeeping, four wheeling and the list goes on! Check out the websites below and come to the meeting to get the facts for yourself.

There is meeting tommorrow night in Carbondale. I suspect it the first of many to go. Anybody that can't go don't feel bad I think we have this one covered. Don't despair though! We will have another to attend in Gypsum on Sept 22nd. THis will be even more imprtant to have a good showing at. Thanks to all for the support.

This is just a quick note of thanks from the Board of the White River Forest Alliance thanking everyone for the great turnout and fantastic support at the Carbondale Parks and Recreation Meeting on Wednesday night September 9th. In our opinion that meeting was an absolute, lights out, homerun success. With everyone’s support we have begun to speak out with one voice against this Wilderness proposal. We sent a huge message out to the folks behind the “Hidden Gems”,as well as to the media and most importantly to the uniformed public, that there is an ever growing group of working class people who do not support the idea of having their Forest access severely restricted just to please a wealthy few.
As we come into these next few weeks please continue to spread the word and help get folks informed on what’s going on around them. The greatest weapon we have in this fight is an informed and educated public.
We will be updating our website constantly in the next few days with happenings and events.
Once again we also encourage anyone who hears of any meeting containing Hidden Gems to please contact us so we can spread the word and at least give the public a chance to get involved.
On a final note, many have asked “how did the meeting go Wednesday night?” Lets just say this, when someone asked for a show of hands for people who were IN FAVOR of the Hidden Gems Wilderness 4 people raised their hands, when it was asked for who were AGAINST the proposal, over 200 raised their hands. That pretty much summed it up. You folks have no idea how good we are doing in such a short, it is simply amazing!

Senator Bennet,

I have to say first off I love the Wilderness that surrounds us in the Mountains. The Solitude is second to none for relaxation.

But that is my recreation when I chose it. In short, I have friends that find that they love to enjoy Colorado in other ways that should not be excluded. Jeeps, Mtns Bikes, ATV and snowmobiles ( I also snowmobile).

Increasing the Wilderness areas will exclude a number of people from enjoying the Forest Service and BLM lands that belong to everybody, not just the able bodies that are fit enough to venture into the Wildernes.

There are a number of older citizens that can ride an ATV to accesss these lands as they have with thier parents from past generations.

I urge you to vote against further roadless legislation. Colorado has enough wilderness for those that choose to access it, but it is not accessible by all. Thank You for your Consideration. Michael S Dunphy

I already sent a reminder to our club. The meeting is at the town hall in Gypsum. I'll find out the time. We need to make sure we have some numbers because the Hidden Gems group (Wilderness Workshop) has been sending out requests to get more people to help them out. Come help us out!
