I finally got a chance to use the training course at the top of fairview. What a great tool for us to have, I plan on practicing EVERY time I get up there.
In the instructions it says to use your probe at the site. I probed for days (not really) and bever hit anything besides dirt. Is there something there that you could actully hit? something that would give you an idea that you are in the right spot?

Ya, there is a wooden box buried under the snow that you should hit. hitting the box won't turn off the beacon or anything, but you should still feel the box when you hit it.
