Help wanted in choosing new sled.

I am in the market for a new sled, well new to me anyways. I am looking to spend around $5000-6000. I have ridden arctic cat and polaris sleds, but aren't really partial to any makes. I am wanting an 800 mountain sled. I wanted to know what would be a good reliable sled for me. My brother in law and cousins all have arctic cat sleds like the m7 and m8, but a few of my friends have 800 rmk's. One of them wants to sell me their 06 polaris 900 rmk with a 159" track, but I have heard lots of people don't like those sleds, and my cousin said they are junk. I just want to know what sled I should upgrade to from my stock 02 polaris 800 rmk with 151" track. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My suggestion would be to buy an 07' or newer chassis. Both AC and POO are great. I ride Poo but that my change in a year or two. Just my .02

Easy, go down to your local dealer, find a sled and test ride it.
Keep doing that till you find the sled you like.

What’s the matter? Can’t find a 07-08 polaris sled cheep? Want to know why? SIMPLE. They are the BEST sleds on the market today followed closely by the M sleds.

Get a 07 700 Dragon and it will out perform your 800. :face-icon-small-

To the do rider that said he never looks back... Thats because he is at the back of the pack hideing behind his windshield looking at poo and cat blowing ice chunks in his face as they pass.

I agree that the dragon is the best stock sled on the hill today. Great looking with great reliability. If I was shopping I would be looking for a used dragon and if you can't find one of those go with a used M7 and look for a 800 big bore kit. Great reliability and make great power.

Get into the swapmeet there is a 06 m7 with an 800 kit in it for 6000 obo. The list of mods he has there makes it sound pretty good. Swapmeet is yer best bet.

Thats funny i have a polaris mod also, 800 though fun sled but that pump gas ski doo would hang right with it. Have had an 06 M7 also and wow I would rather take a cattle prod to nutz than go back. Oh ya I had a 05 IQ RMK with a 975 stuthers big bore and still liked the ski doo better. So you see I just don't rant off stupid chit (700 dragon.... yank, yank) I'VE OWNED THEM! just my .02

Im not sure what you are really saying. Are you agreeing with me?

I am about 95% positive that a 07 700 dragon will out perform a 03 800 RMK in any conditions.

Its not just the fact that the engines make almost the same power, its the fact that that chassis works so well.

I don't see how a 975 couldn't stretch a smile across your face? My stock 900 scared the chit out of me when it ran right, let alone if it had another 20 hp.

Call up the Cooke City Exxon (406-838-2244). Last time I checked Rick had some amazing deals on rental sleds. If you are looking for a good sled get one from him. His set ups work and he maintains his sleds very well. Its worth the drive from ware ever you are.

Nope not agreeing just saying I've had a lot of sleds and I believe the ski doo to be the most fun, best sled with the least hassle IMO. Not sure about XP though have a couple in the shop this year so they better be good.
