To all Moto-x/Extreme sport guys BEWARE! I contacted custom helmet painter by the name of Robert”bob” Utne in Minneapolis MN. Bob has painted many custom helmets for factory moto-x/snowmobile racers over the years. I talked with bob and he was going to supply the helmet and a custom paint job, this was in june 2010. I sent bob $350 to cover the cost of the helmet and more $ to come to cover the paint, he said it would take approx 3 weeks,I have yet to receive the helmet or full money refund.I sent Mr Utne many messages over this time frame, his response was, My family is in dire financial need and i will repay. I have received $70.00 from Mr Utne since June 2010. I asked for pics during the painting, he said the helmet was masked and between colors so pics were not going to show anything. I later find out he did not purchase the helmet in the first place! He now blocks all my emails and messages. I was lied to and robbed! His company was called Images in Motion, now he goes by Wild Images In Motion, doing Taxidermy and wildlife art/painting. Hard to believe he could not come up with $350 in close to 2 years. BEWARE and go elsewhere. His website talks of professional, does this sound professional to you?

Well, they say that a dissatisfied customer tells 20 people on average, and a satisfied customer will only tell one or two. Who knows how many people will see this and opt not to do business with this guy? He will wish he'd done the right thing in the end.

I found his website and his contact info and sent him a little note:

Subj: Robert, maybe you should honor your debts!

You took money for a helmet and a paint job from a guy in British Columbia......

You did not get him a hlemet or put your fancy paint on it either......

Paid him back $70 since 2010

Wow, what a stand up guy you are!

You send this guy messages that you are in dire straights and have no money, and have the nerve to send messages back to him using your new Ipad.

That is disgusting!

I would suggest that you make good on your debt.

Karma would suggest that after a relatively short period of time of ignoring your debt to this man, that something bad could conceivably happen to your place of business...... Not by my hands of course ;) I would never do that!

I would hate for Karma to be right, wouldn't you?

Right on, i appreciate it, lets just says i sent a few colorful emails to this guy over the last year and a half and all he says.."threats and name calling is not going to solve this" He starts a new business, has a fancy new website but can't afford to pay $300 in 2 years? I still have no idea where my money went and what it was used for..i even offered to take something on trade for what he owed me, art work, helmets he has already painted, no response.

only time he responds is when i totally loose my cool and call the thief a few colorful names, he emails me this am and tells me to file a civil lawsuit, i said i work going to report him to the BBB, he says "go ahead, that business i closed" That's what kind of guy he is.

If i don't get a cent more back from this guy and this is what i totally expect, that's ok, as long as the word gets out and guys know how this "professional" does business. Spread the word.

in the future, if you hire painters to do work for you, stay away from the ones that require more than 50% down. Only asking 50% shows the client that you expect the rest to be paid when the project is done, meaning the painter is going to get the job done so he can get paid for it. That kinda pisses me off because in some sense he is actually giving me a bad name as a custom painter. I will remember the name, thanks man. Hopefully people here on this forum wont be discouraged to hire me because of this low life.

i'm also thinking that if he charges 350 for a helmet and I charge 200 to start for an entire hood, i must be retarded!!! No really. I know painters who charge a fortune and thats fine, I charge what I do because I like what I do and painting for other people just makes me better at what I do, haha.

looks like he can afford to give 100-500 dollars off his new work no problem. I think he is not in dire financial need. What a douche. Someone should stop by his place and say HI. :argue:
