Not to be a wet blanket but make sure you guys keep your emails clean with no threats beyond not doing business with the guy. We don't want to give him an excuse to slap the OP with a harassment charge, and it sounds like he's the type as he's already threatened the OP with legal action if he shows up at his place.

I work in the twin cities area and do a lot of networking with different kinds of people.I'll be sure to spread the word about this guy and how he works. Sorry to hear about getting shafted, at least u didn't shell out $4,000 to friends like I did that you have known since diapers for bodywork and new paint job and they do a ****ty job and say they will redo it and never did...

But there are a bunch of dill-holes like this guy. Perhaps we here in MN could go and "Occupy" his business for an afternoon. You know a peaceful demonstration.

Have you considered contacting SCI? They would not want a member that creates bad press like this. SCI members like to do business with SCI members, this isn't the type of guy normally in their group.

He tells me to "open a civil law suit" against him...again because of the distance and it's $300 owing.

Yep he goes and steals money from someone than whines to the teachers about how unfair people are to him. He was that kinda kid in school...Take your medicine!!! (I bet he got beat up alot to)<-------but we are not in school so DONT threaten violence) A real stand up guy would openly issue a refund and say good riddens to you no matter how many sides to the story.

Seems to me if the guy is a real man he'll post up and make this right. If he's got another side of the story, he can post that up too, but regardless if he accepted money for a product he didn't deliver then he should return the money in full and I simply don't understand why someone would join up and read these posts but not respond or make things right. I agree that if he is affiliated with certain businesses then those businesses need to be notified that he is doing business in an unethical manner and then threatening people with legal action when they try to recover their deposits. Coming onto a forum and flagging posts in order to get the negative publicity removed is just cowardly.

Hey Racer, I've got a deal for you. I'm a lawyer in Saint Paul, MN, approximately 25 minutes from where your friend Mr. Utne practices his trade. If you want to sue him in small claims Court, I'll appear on your behalf, for free. All you would have to do is pay the $73 filing fee. I'll file the complaint and appear on your behalf. Ought to be pretty easy to get a judgment against this guy if what you have presented is accurate. Truthfully, even once you get the judgment, you may not ever collect it, depending on what assets he owns/controls, but it certainly would increase your chances of getting your $$$ back.
Let me know if you want to take me up on it. As I said already, I'm not looking for any compensation. My payment will be knowing that I helped a fellow Snowester stick it to a doucheb*g.

I would suggest that you make good on your debt.
