Remember, the factory headlights are ran off of AC power, not DC. So unless you install a rectifier also, you won't be able to run the LED light bar from it...
I have a bigger LED light bar for a truck in my garage that i half fast hooked up to the sled. Fired it up and the light turned on no problem. So should be no need for a rectifier.
if you hooked the light to the dc plug then yes it will work, but like MH said thats prob not the best spot. if you hook the light into the original lighting plug then you need a rectifier because the lighting/hand warmers are AC
The light I have pulls more than 2 amps...
Did you change the fuse to a larger one??
I'm not a fan of running anything more than a cell phone charger off that DC connection... It is the same VRR that supplies the ECU/injectors ... If you take out the VRR for that... your sled stops working... if you take out a separate lighting VRR.. then all you have is no lights and no handwarmers... no big deal.
Also... if you've removed your headlights and replaced it with the LED... you still need to put more of a load on the lighting/handwarmer/charging circuit.
My 2 cents.
.
I did it the same way. Bolted it to the belt guard.on mine, take that for whats its worth, all i did is unlpug the original 3 wire plug and add the 2012 VR, i still have my original 2013 in place and added the 2012
On my new 13, I had a Boondocker Performance 100W 2 ohm resistor lying around. I mounted it to the upper frame assembly (aluminum plate where carbon fiber support arms attach) and tapped into the hot wire going up to the headlights (thick yellow wire with red stripe) where the hood assembly plug connects and tapped into the ground wire at the same place (thick green wire).
I will get some photos tonight and post up.
they way you have that wired now will only work on highbeam
