head lights go off and looses fuel pressure

red/blue

it splices into the red/black then a single wire runs to a connector then branches to both pumps same with ground...

im putting a quick butt connector on each wire (red/black) (red/blue w/fuse) to A. have a back up power source or B. run a single pump off both???

the lights cut out once that i know of could question i have is should i disconnect head lights and run current red/black circuit or swap over to red/blue and tax that circuit with gauge running too.

anyone know how much power the BD oil pump draws on its own

Holy crap yours was spliced into the red/black too! Who installed yours? What is the chance that both of ours were installed wrong? I bet there are other kits running around with the same problem. Boondockers must have had the wrong instructions up back in 08 or 09, whenever ours were installed. It just makes sense not to run two pumps off of the circuit that is going to draw the most power-the headlights. It's funny that most of the electrical problems with these kits might have been due to a simple wrong install instruction of red/black instead of red/blue...

I bet you anything since yours had the same problems as mine and was wired the same as mine, if you splice your pumps exactly how they were, with same ground and everything, just switch the incoming wire from the red/black from the red/blue you'll be golden. Oh, and make sure to splice after the fuse so that the fuse can actually do its job. I am hoping it won't blow that fuse, but so far so good for mine...I guess if it does we probably are drawing too much power from that circuit. I still think that the two pumps and the gauges are about the same power draw as the headlights. The gauges can't draw much power, the tiny POS boondocker oil pump can't draw much either...

The backup power source like wyoboy was mentioning makes sense that it could help add a little to the system and reduce the overall draw in times when the system is under a lot of load... But then again, at least with my kit it seems like it will be under the same load all the time, my stock fuel pump is always going to be pumping, as well as my secondary pump, as well as my turbo oil pump, as well as my headlights... The fuel pumps might be under a bit more load under high fuel consumption, but I don't know if they will necessarily draw that much more power, and under high fuel consumption your engine is probably spinning your stater faster generating more power... Over time it would probably just drain the 12V battery that was spliced into the system. I bet you splice your pumps into the red/blue circuit and it will work just fine like mine...

so need to splice red/blue after fuse as it goes into wire bundle. if i remember looking at it earlier it is just red coming out of ccu then to fuse then becomes red/blue as it enters wire bundle

Wyo, Totally agree with twisted being a top notch set up, as stated many times before by others I believe wat really sets kits apart is quality of install and tuning. I would buy a twisted in a heart beat, but on the other hand I've had 2 flawless seasons ( other than 1 set of reeds) riding hard on my 2010 m8 with an intercooled bd set up, I wouldn't trade mine for prolly 90% of others, not that bd is better but rather the time and care taken no matter the kit, sets most sleds apart

I am pretty certain my problems with my sled have nothing to do with my twisted setup but my ccu as a couple times it would cut out and go into reverse, this is an 08 sled with dakota reverse wiring and 09 flash that i did myself and i belive that is where my problem lies, every burn down i ve had with exception of the origonal install wich was not done correctly is due to myself not setting numbers properly after turning them down to head down the trail to save fuel,Ive ridden with a few different types of turbos, boondocker included and they rock,im a firm believer that most problems with these turbo kits are install issues and not the kit itself,to finish this is a 1200 rg twisted turbo and the only problem i see that i would contribute to the kit is I cant keep belts on it and my arms get really fn sore:face-icon-small-coo

I think your problem is simple and can be fixed easy give me a call

Great post thanks

If it is the later kit (2011) I've seen those run really well and perform great, just not any 08 and older bd kits. Seen a few prob with the 09 and 10 kits but simply fixed with different wiring and pump.
Agree 100% on install and knowing the setup.

so as per the origonal post I unpluged my lowbeam lights and when I need lights I just flick it to high beam,I think I found my problem with my fuel preasure cutting out then coming back on,my ccu fuse was corroded badly and when I wiggled it it cut my pump off so I cleaned it up and will try it tomorrow, hope thats it

Bcguy on some of the earlyier 07-08 sleds I did the relay I used for the fuel pump would stick when it sticks only 20 psi

sounds like sound advice shane ,the only part I dont understand is my airfuel guage looses power and keeps reseting itself when it does this,my fuel preasure drops to 25 pounds, then if I shut sled off and restart it will come back up,it seems at the end of the day it got way worse and did it constantly, this is a new pump i got from tim as i replaced the original a week or two ago due to it was sqeeling a bit ,will call you today if i can

i moved my power source to the red/blue went riding yesterday, no pressure problems anymore ran great other than haveing to adjust my bd box every time we went to a new hill it would run fine then i would be puling a hill and it would bog out from to much fuel but it was running 1200-1250, i pull some fuel and would run great but halfway up a big climb would start trying to get to 1300* and would have to feather a bit to make the top

pulled apart my relay shain,it was a little rusty in the connection so I will pick one up in morning, checked ccu it looked free of moisture, will try a doner unit the next time I go out, what is funny is it acted up a bit all day but coming down the trail at the end of day it pretty much stayed at 25 pounds and continuely screwed up ,does this sound in any way like my stator could be acting up?
