Hatcher Pass (willow/palmer)

Well Hatchers was great today. The light was awesome and the snow was deep enough people were getting stuck before they even crossed the road.

I was able to cross and make the 1st "low" mark on that 1st hillside facing the road. AWESOME carving and boondocking. It was nice to be the 1st guy up the hill. Then my buddies got stuck and that dream faded away lol lol

Stay away from highmarking some of the left hillsides in the 1st valley to the right after the pass, they have snow but they are thin because of wind and the rocks right under the snow are cause for concern. My sled can vouch for it. That was the only place I had any problems.

There were alot of avy's all on very steep slopes. But still be cautious.

Other than that it was an awesome day.

It will be epic if they can get this to base down and then get another 30'' to add to what they have now.

Looking foward to going back!

Some Pics from today!

btw- To bad 18ft Dragons dont come with snowshoes ;)

The Summit wasn't stuck he was taking Soil Samples for the State Park System:D

A buddy and I had a killer time in the pass today. Came across 4 dudes on the willow side that were buried in 5 plus feet and were not going anywhere. Took an hour to get em out but they were greatfull.Good light, tons of snow and close to home. Yeah!

If you go - watch out for the old crusty "nazi" park ranger. He will check registrations for sleds and trailers(everyone of them in parking lot to be exact), and will tell you to go home if you don't have proper stickers, I heard this from several people who went up today. My buddy had proper stickers, but one of the numbers was worn, the ranger told him he didn't wanna see him up there again unless he had new stickers!

will they check stickers if you come in through the willow side?

Which side did you guys go in through aksummit?

I have never had any problems.

I have a polished tunnel and dont have any stickers on it. Mine are on the inside panels. I have only been asked once but I still dont like just hangin around to test my luck.

you should never have any problems from willow side.

I like the palmer side for time issues but almost most the time ride back down craige valley and over dogsled.
