Why would you want to? Seems like a bulky/extra thing to have to lug around. I mean what are you going to do with it if you get stranded? Most wild life would be hybernating/lower elevations. If your worried about getting lost or stranded and needing something to make noise carry a whistle. I keep a pistol in my truck at all times but seems un-needed when riding sleds.

love this thread it starts like 4 or 12 times a yr in multiple sections..

I'm packing.. its my right.

Above Riggins, ID two springs ago we saw fresh wolf tracks, thats a good enough reason for me.

I carry one of two pistols when I ride. Either a .357 or a xd40. One of those 2 is always with me. also did the ccw course the course that got me legal for 30 states after I had my washington permit.

I usually carry my .500 SW with me, one never knows when you need to put a sled out of its misery. Actually I rarely carry on my sled, I have never had the need for a pistol but one is always in the truck. If I lived or rode in Alaska I would definitely carry at least in the spring, a .500 round will fill up a hungry Grizz.

after actually seeing some wolves last year i was thinking. what if i was stranded and had to walk out or something. im fresh meat! i think ill carry mine

It may be a good idea to check the laws concerning carrying a firearm on a snowmobile for the state you are riding. For example in SD, state law requires a firearm carried on a snowmobile must be unloaded and in a case.

I would play dumb and carry anyway. There are many possibilities for a "case" and if the clip isn't all the way in its not loaded.
