Greenwater...

oops sorry i dont know how that got in there. But im leaving it. lol

oh ya there is an (S) curve just before the incline starts.

I did manage to put mine in the ditch once. Road was not bad , just snow-pack which is the best. F350 pulling a 4-place enclosed, came thru the S's and got a little squirrley and thought WTF, not that slick! Managed to make it 1/2 way up and opted for the ditch vs. coming down backwards. Ya, auto hubs never locked in - had a vacuum leak. Thought I made it pretty far for 2WD though! Now I do a test before I get to the climb to make sure 4WD is actually engaged! FYI - 4WD light was on so I was fooled!

The bank is your friend coming down,I'm close to it on the way up also just for that reason. Lose traction and turn into the bank.

New at greenwater

The FS is fixing the drainage problem at the snow park right now, so it shouldnt wash out the parting lot on each pinapple express we get. I think that is all I know about.

Yes the matterhorn is steep and sucks, so everyone just ride somewhere else it not worth going up there. If you dont have any common sence please take a left in Enumclaw and go ride somewhere else.

Check those auto hubs, your in the ditch with out them. Lost mine at white pass a couple of years ago. Drove in a few miles to the snowpark on solid ice in 4wheel I thought, could not make the gentle grade into it with out a good run at it. Manual hubs now installed.:face-icon-small-con

I felt stupid at the time because some jeepers came along and told me to pull the center caps off and manually engage them. I knew Ford was that way in the past but thought maybe they had changed to fully auto or something now figuring why would Les Schwab put screw-on center caps on them to cover that up. So I guess you could just manually lock them in everytime before you got to the mountain if you wanted. Anyways, was not my proudest moment.

The Jeepers came along after I got out of the ditch with the aid of a guy with a winch. I was on the road , chained up rears and could still not get moving up the hill. Amazing what 2 more wheels pulling will then do !

Are they putting in a colvert from the old gate off to the left accross the lot to the creek hillside or down the road?

Yeah it's funny...Chrysler removed their vacuum actuated front differential locking axle system they had used since 1994 because it sucked. Instead of building and designing a better locking system, they just removed it altogether and let everything go for a ride all of the time.

Brilliant....$55,000 truck and no way to disengage the entire front powertrain.

In Chryslers mind, you don't need them, just use the system they used in the 70's. The front end is going along for the ride all the time so that when you engage the t-case, the front driveline, differential, and axles are already to go (engage). And the transfer case has a synchronized 4 high selector so that you can engage 4 wheel on the fly.

Not having hubs allows for the benefit of being able to engage 4 wheel at any time but it allows your front end components to wear out much faster.

Anybody remember the Ram-Charger????

the road can be a bit of a pain and get your temps up a bit. No different than the flat roads with snow and ice with some drivers. I thought several times last year that they were doing such a great job getting every speck of snow off, they should have left some on and start sanding the crap out of it. When it warms up, get the blade on it and then sand away again. Not sure why there is no sand on it-ever! Id leave a 20 or a 50 in a lock box at the turn off for a sand fund.

also herd there is not going to be as much grooming and

Friday grooming and none untill Monday, Wensday, Friday and some of the roads will not be groomed. sucks

They put deicer on every road in the county daily.....but this road has never seen a drop and needs it more than any other I know of. Is there a reason for this? Do our tax dollars not apply here? Another method of discouraging snowmobile use?

I totally disagree. Nothing worse than coming back at the end of the day with a bunch of 100 yard stretches of bare-*** pavement to ride. Again, goes back to common sense is all. When the gate is closed you get a mile of vehicles lined up - sucks. I would rather drive in every time.

hopefully they close the lower gate and keep every one from going up the hill or force you to chain up herd they have less money to plow road

TNT then you sould let the FS how you feel they are the ones that made the road single use only no dual use so if the snow is bad enough that the averige idiot cant make it then they have to close the road and make so all can ride their agree with you but gov heads think diffrently.:faint:
