Grand Lake

Its been a tough year for snow so far but the goods are out there if you seek it. I'm posting this only to promote Grand lake which is the coolest little village in Co. Name a town you know in Co where its legal to ride your sled anywhere.....Slim pickings. The tree riding in the area is as technical and fun as it gets.
Its snowing up here and there are some awesome places to stay and eat. Come check it out. And up high its puking. Pic's taken today well of the trail.

Thanks for the update. I'm hoping to head up tomorrow night for a Sat morning ride. Do you think the town trail will be open? I hate trailering to Idelglen instead of just riding out of my back door. If it's not open, may just head to RE since I hear they got a pretty sizeable dumping this week.

Town trail is still closed but lets be honest with each other, who wants to ride that. Just trailer to the trailhead and get to the goods sooner.

Grand Lake Sunday

Was going to go to Rabbit ears sunday but thinking hit the ears Saturday then hit grand lake sunday. This is the area I rode first ever in my life and want to check it back out. Anyone up for some riding Sunday?

How do you get the idle glen parking lot? Which lot is the best to park at that won't require tons of trail miles first?

TIA

nevermind, hotel just cancelled the reservation.

we are going to stick to the ears this weekend

There's still hope for the town trail. From Cam's post (the Groomer) this morning...

"Packed out the town trail through Rocky Mtn National Park, but it is currently still closed to snowmobiles. The Park will assess the trail tomorrow and determine when they can open."

.

Thanks Track. It's not a big deal to trailer, I know, but there's something to be said from riding from the back yard. Lazy is the new black.

I agree 100% on riding from the back door, but being lazy about loading up the trailer a couple of weeks ago cost me a set of hyperfax.:tsk:

Cam also had this to say this morning;

"Idleglen got about 4" new, but snow improves quickly with elevation. Above treeline areas have been wind blown, but all that snow is now in the meadows just below treeline, 2-3' new in areas. Upper elevations have some great riding."

The trail is now open! But it will only be open as long as we respect it and protect it! There is Plenty of powder out there to spin your track on, so there's no need to do it between town and the system!

Went to GL Fri---1-1.5' of new on groomed trails, 2-3' in upper meadows and Pony park. White-out with 20-25 mph wind on Gravel.

Went to town for some fish tacos at P&L-Town trail open but in poor but rideable condition.

We rode gl today , lotsa fun. Headed out late from town and found a Nissan maxima stuck on the national park side ON THE TRAIL!!! He decided that was a good idea I guess. Somebody must have gotten them out at some point. They were high centered pretty good. Hope they don't shut it down again because of that. There was also a tv crew in town filming for travel channel, one episode of hotel impossible and then a special on grand lake! Very good for the town economy hopefully! Come up and play! TONS of powder up high!!!

Went yesterday alone, found some great climbs and powder play stashes. I'm surprised by all the area to ride and practice. I bet it would be a blast to ride in 2ft+

Hoping to go back tomorrow if it snow a bunch and I can find someone to ride with. Cool place
