It reminded me of my grandad as well. My wife says that his character reminded her of me.........I guess we will see in 40 years or so.

Thats why I love Clint! He is an actor that appreciates the men and women that fight for this country's liberties...not one that spits on these men and women like so many others do!

Based on the comments on this thread I watched it and I wasnt too impressed. Not a bad movie, but not great either. Just my 2¢ take it for what it is worth.

sorry to hear that, first person I have heard that has watched it and not been impressed,
Gonna have to agree with Abominable here. Great movie with outstanding acting that was negated by dumbing it all down so idiots could understand. Clint Eastwood could convey everything the audience needed to know just through his expressions and mannerisms. Then after he went to all the trouble of acting, the writers just added it in to other peoples dialogue to let any blind or brain dead people know what was happening.
I didn't mind it. It wasn't the best I've ever seen, but I'd see it again.
I may get flamed for this, but I liked Taken better than Gran Torino.

Saw it finally last night....my GF didn't like it, in fact when she doesn't like a movie she gets anxious and disruptive...UUUGH! Leave me alone! I like it! Good movie, definitely the old war vet to a tee! I loved his facial expressions and slurs! I think I almost peed myself laughing! The GF didn't appreciate the slurs like I did! LMAO Clint didn't let me down again! What a stud, he is a rare patriot left in Hollywood. It will be a sad day when he is gone! ...and I don't know how the ending couldn't touch anyone....great story.
I liked it, had me cheering him on at times.

I was born in Detroit and my whole family is from Detroit. When I was a kid it was a pretty decent place. This show certainly depicts current Detroit environment w/ the guys(like my Dad) who have to learn to adapt and overcome. My uncle Don, korean/ Vietnam vet. reminds me of Clint in this movie. When people ask me where I'm from, I joke and say, Det. " It's a good place to be FROM" But you know it is also Hockeytown, Motorcity and the original Motown.
