gps and beacon

well I use a dts tracker...was state of the art when I bought it and although I have never had to use it for real..in practice it has proven both acurate as well as easy to use...I also use a garmin gps-5..old but awesome for what it does..holds up to 36 topo maps at one time..is compact(mnts on a handmade bracket on top of the riser), and have used it many times over the years to get back in whiteout conditions(garmin no longer makes them but they show up on ebay for under 150 all the time)..

I've got 2 beacons, one is the Mammut BarryVox the other is the Pieps, both are great beacons, I would recommend either!

Oh and the GPS is A Garmin Rino530hcx which is a fully waterproof, colour gps/2way radio, love it!

I have a tracker and we all (buddys) use the Garmin rhino520/530 gps and use the radios alot. These units will automatically tell you where your buddy is at any given time. Saved someone more than once in a white out storm.

When someone gets a beacon, i highly recommend that they practice with it and know how to use it properly before you take it out. :)

i know a handful of people that have beacons but, dont not know how to use it.

another vote for the DTS beacon and garmin rhino 530...cant put a price on what these are capable of...my.02
