We live up a canyon 1 mile from national forest. Most morning we have a squirrel well chipmunk that wakes up every morning but the last couple of mornings it is something new. We have a family of red tailed hawks that is coming and sitting on the deck in the mornings. They make that real loud squeal and the minute the squirrel chirps they try and get him in the tree. Its kind of cool there was three on the deck yesterday morning. We have a couple of kittens that we are concerned about but we have not seen them even eye them yet. We seam to have the worst luck with cat the longest we have ever had one live was 8 months and then that one just took off. We do not even live by a road. I think they get ate but do not know.

There are some down sides we had a skunk in the garage a couple of days ago thank goodness the dogs that sleep in there did not mess with him. Its a funny story so I wake early Monday morning to that smell hurry and close all doors right. Go to see if it out side and can not see it but smells like it came from in front of the garage. I figured it walked in front and dogs startled it from inside and it took off. So i go and let the dogs out for the morning and it smell in there and my pup (George) English mastiff about 4 months old had been tearing the insulation out of the door. So i chewed his but and cleaned up the mess. Well we left the doors open all day so as to air out the garage. The next night it still smell but we put the dogs in and shut the door for the night. Well same thing Tuesday morning about 5 I smell the skunk and get up close he door and go out on the deck looking for it. I walk to the end of the house above the garage and I can hear what I think is George scratch at the door digging the rest on the isolation out of the door of my garage. So I yell at George ,"George I am going to kick you but" and he stops scratching at the door. I go down the stairs to let them out and kick Georges butt. When i open the door he is coming from the other side of the garage like he just woke up so I just scold him a bit and open my door and let them out. Well the garage is a mess so I decide that I need to wash down the garage and maybe the smell will go away. I back both trucks out and then hope on the Dixon mower and move it then I move the push out by the dixon and picking up just a bit more when I see something under the dixon move. Dam its a skunk so I get the dogs put them in the house so as not to get sprayed move the trucks farther away and go up on the deck with the 22 so as when it runs away I can shoot the stinking thing, and we wait and its not coming out and I am thinking now that's if it stayed in my garage for 2 days he might not move. So I have my wife go in the back yard and squirt the mower with the hose. Well that made him mad and pissst all over my mower but he was on the move. I pump one in and it cocks and jams and that little bugger got away. O well never a dull moment living in the woods I love it. O and the dixon its up in the trees still airing out.

Your link to Mountain Magic Sports is down.

Otherwise I can relate. I used to live in Sandpoint and we had a family of skunks that lived in our wood shed. You always wanted to have the flood lights on when you were outside after dark. We often met them coming around the corner of the house. We never had a real close call until we went to sell the house. A 12 gauge made a smelly mess, but they moved out.

I miss the old days of living in mcCall.. WE would have skunks stealling our chickens all the time!
